Berkeley Dressing Table

Berkeley
Dressing tables always suggest a more glamorous time than ours (possibly because I don’t have space for one myself) and this is especially true of the Berkeley Dressing Table from Hyde House.

With its over-sized mirror , framed in black and white, the Berkeley Dressing Table has looks that hark back to the art deco period, although as photographed here against a monochrome striped background, it would work equally well in a 1960s-inspired room.

The dressing table set costs £1,299. Visit the Hyde House website to order.

Hope and Greenwood homewares

Hope and greenwood

We're obviously massive fans of Hope and Greenwood's retro sweets, but did you know they also sell their own range of homewares?

The homewares range is based around a design is called This Lovely Land which is inspired by traditional British stamps. The bright colours makes it a great take on the current heritage trend and a perfect fit with the distinctive Hope and Greenwood packing. The design is used across several items, such as the cotton apron and the tea cosy pictured as well as tea towels and oven gloves.

Prices start at £10 for the tea towels. Perfect for using to wash up after you've indulged in some of their confectionery!

Yin Yang Footstool

Yinyangfootstool
Footseys have turned the symbol for universal harmony into, of all things, a footstool with the Yin Yang Footstool.

Whilst the Yin and Yang symbol has its roots in Chinese philosophy, it gained wider recognition in the West in the Sixties and will always carry certain hippie connotations. However, the overall look of footstool will ultimately depend on which fabric coverings you opt for – one example they have on their website uses Sanderson’s Dandelion fabric, which gives it more fifties feel.

Prices for the Yin Yang Footstool start at £290. Visit the Footseys website to order.

I Love Tintin mugs

Tintin-mugs
If you love Tintin as much we do, you just might want to show that love with one of the I Love Tintin mugs available online.

Made of porcelain they come in a Tintin box, although obviously you don't have to have the lead character – take your pick from Snowy, Thompson Twins, Captain Haddock and Castifoire if you prefer. They are available for £5.95 each and you can order online, but if you are in Covent Garden in London, the Tintin Shop there has them too.

Find out more on the Tintin Shop website.

Seventies racer cushion from Couverture

Seventies racer cushoin
This Seventies racer cushion from Couverture combines a bizarre mixture of the hand-made, the luxurious and the world of retro cars.

The cushion features a depiction of a classic 70s car – not your usual illustration however, as this one has been hand-created, using needlepoint. The touch of luxury is added with the pure feather inner pad and the velvet back to the cushion.

And, yes, also a luxurious price. This cushion costs £139.

Tortie Hoare may have won Designer of the Year 2010, but her Leather and Walnut Desk looks like something decades older.

The leather creates a storage pouch at the end of the desk, and was created using the ancient technique of boiling leather. The desk is the perfect size for a laptop or simply a writing space. It is a limited edition piece of just 30, with each one handmade.

The desk costs £1,582 and can be ordered via My Deco.
