Yellena James for Schoolhouse Electric Co. shades
American company, the Schoolhouse Electric Co. manufacture glass shades for lights, based on models they've found dating from between 1900 and 1950, even replicating the traditional techniques used to produce them. They've teamed up with illustrator Yellena James to produce their first artist series.
Her naturally inspired designs have been used across three shapes of shades. They're available etched on clear glass or reproduced as a charcoal, green or multi-colour illustration, on a milky-white shade. The results are unusual and unique looking pieces and offer a subtle way to introduce a vintage feel to a room.
Prices range from $35 to $95.

Knot Wine Rack
The Knot Wine Rack has been designed by New York-based company Mint.
It consists of two intersecting moulded plywood pieces in birch and walnut, which combine to create a flower-like shape, which looks cool, but also provides a good way to store bottles. The construction allows you to store six regular size bottles, plus one larger bottle, such as a champagne bottle in the centre.
The Knot Wine Rack is available to buy from Cool and Collected via Not on the High Street, priced £85.
Skk Lighting 1960s-style robot lamp
Skk Lighting, the brand of lighting consultant Shiu-Kay Kan, does a good line in fun products – lights in the shape of everything from skulls to dinosaurs – but the inspiration for this little creature came from a 1960s tin Japanese toy robot. The shape has been replicated from plastic and, when the bulb is on, gives a glow perfect for a spot of night reading.
A great little piece of design, the lamp sells for £59.
