Mondrian-inspired Square tablecloths by Rouge du Rhin

Mondrian

We've featured many designs in the past inspired by Dutch abstract painter Piet Mondrian, in particular, using his coloured block artwork of the 1920s. Unfortunately, most if it (like the Cappellini Homage to Mondrian cabinets for example) have come with a restrictively high price. Not so these Mondrian-inspired Square tablecloths by Rouge du Rhin.

Offering up that distinctive design onto two sizes of tablecloth, the Square is a bold print onto a white 100 per cent linen cloth – perfect for impressing your art-loving friends or simply adding some colour to your home.

Prices start at the equivalent of just £16, with a similar cushion (pictured over the page), selling for around the £56 mark.

Rolling Side Table

Trolleysidetable

I’m not sure what period was the inspiration for this Vintage Style Rolling Side Table, but it still has an undeniably old-fashioned look to it.

A sturdy black steel frame is combined with a slated wood table top, which has been given a weathered finish to add to the vintage feel. The table is on wheels and has a practical lower shelf. It could be used in a variety of settings.

It costs $158 from Urban Outfitters, although it is sadly only available for delivery within mainland USA.

Lego Minifigure kitchen scales

Lego_scales

Yes, more Lego-related merchandise, this time the Lego Minifigure kitchen scales, which are actually part of a larger Lego kitchen range.

Novelty with practicality, these 17cm tall scales will amuse your mates but do a decent job of weighing just about anything in kilograms and ounces using the 15cm-wide tray.

The rest of the range includes everything from cookie cutters and salt and pepper shakers through to cutlery and storage jars. If you want the scales, they'll set you back £17.59.

Jonathan Adler Okura tea caddy

Okura_teacaddy_or

More goodies from the master of colourful home wares, Jonathan Adler with these Okura tea caddys. On one side a white circle is set against a bright background; on the other side the colours are reversed. The Okura range includes co-ordinating dessert and narrower lozenge plates and apparently is inspired by Japanese Modernism but it also looks pretty Pop to me.

These tea caddies come in the orange shown and yellow, blue or green and cost $28.

Noguchi Rocking Stools

45

If you were tempted by the Noguchi Dining Table highlighted earlier in the week, then you should also consider the Noguchi Rocking Stools, which are the obvious choice of accompanying seating.

Like the table, the stool was designed in 1954 and has the same chrome wire base, but its other distinguishing feature is the cambered base that allows the stool to rock gently. The stool is available in a choice of heights and in a choice of walnut or maple finished.

The low stools (250mm high) cost £507 and the high stools (425mm high) cost an extra £10 from Nest.
