Nextime Separatus

Ne9038hig Wood panelling was the de rigour wall covering back in the 1970s, inspired by the Scandinavians, their cabins and possibly their saunas. It gave a cosy warm feel to rooms that we’d appreciate now the weather is turning colder, but covering all your walls in wood might be a bit extreme, so instead may we suggest the Nextime Seperatus.

The Separatus is a room divider made of dark wood with a contrasting silver clock face on one side. Handy to divide up larger living spaces into two areas but equally good for recreating that 70s panelled effect.

It costs just under £500 and is available to order from Perry Perry.

Albers Nesting Tables

AlbersnestingAnother astoundingly modern-looking design dating back to the Bauhaus heyday, the Albers Nesting Tables have been reissued by Vitra.

Designed by Josef Albers for the house of a Berlin psychoanalyst Fritz Moellenhaf, they combine geometric shapes with bold colours, turquoise, yellow, red and blue, lacquered underneath glass tops.

They cost £1030 from The Lighthouse. Not cheap but remember for that price, you are getting four tables, which doesn’t make it seem quite so bad!

Tokyo Soft Lounge Chair

Tokyo_soft_dormeuse_2

In the quest to find the ultimate statement seating, the Tokyo Soft Lounge Chair must come pretty near the top of the list. The combination of pure white leather and its distinctive curves make it hard to ignore.

Designed by Tokujin Yoshioka for Driade, it costs just under £1,400. There is a small cheaper version, the Tokyo Pop also available for less than £600.

It’s a bold and striking piece of furniture but not very practical, especially if you’ve got pets or small children. However, it does also come in other colours (including a great orange) which might be more functional.

Big Easy Chaise

BigeasychaiselongueSome of the classic chair designs look stylish but not particularly comfortable, but when I saw the Big Easy Chaise, I could immediately picture myself laying back in it restfully for a whole afternoon. It is available in a huge selection of fabrics but I love the decadence of the embroidered fabric pictured here.

Its available to buy from Iconic Interiors, with prices starting at £625.
