Robert Indiana-style Worktop Saver

Indiana_worktop Robert Indiana’s LOVE image is a pop art classic, designed for the Museum of Modern Art in 1964 for a Christmas card design, then followed as a print, postage stamp and sculpture. In fact we’ve even featured a mirror using the design. Well, Joseph Joseph have now ‘borrowed’ the design for a Robert Indiana-style Worktop Saver.

Obviously this is for the kitchen, so the wording has changed, with LOVE being replaced by COOK. It’s still unmistakably Indiana though, with the added bonus of being a hygienic odour and stain resistant work surface for food preparation and a heat resistant trivet withstanding temperatures up to 280ºC.

Available for a very reasonable £12.

Meyer Prestige Mary Quant Deco kettle

Maryquant_kettle Fashion in the kitchen? Yes, this Meyer Prestige Mary Quant Deco kettle is just that – featuring a design from the hand of the sixties icon.

Sadly, it’s not in black and white or indeed covered in daisies, this particular design, as the name suggests, is more in the "Deco" style. It’s still a smart addition to your kitchen, as well as a very modern one, with its 1.5 litre capacity, 360 degree swivel base, automatic boil-dry cut out and over-heat protector, illuminated on/off switch and non-slip base.

You can pick one up online for £46.99.

Gorenje retro-style fridge

Gorenje_fridge_3 Fancy a Smeg-like fridge, but don’t fancy paying a Smeg price? You should check out the Gorenje retro-style fridge range.

This European company is making a push into the UK – and this fridge is one of its fastest-moving items. No surprise really, it’s available in a range of interesting colours, including vanilla, silver and the burgundy pictured here, it’s eco-friendly (A+ rated) and it comes with a five years parts and labour deal.

Check out the full size and specification here. And if it matches up to your requirements, here’s the good news – they’re priced between £550 and £650. That’s considerably cheaper than the lowest-priced Smeg. Is the label worth the extra few hundred quid? We don’t think so.
