Graham and Green Pineapple Lamp Base

Screen shot 2011-01-16 at 22.04.27

No home with kitsch ambitions can be without an ornamental pineapple of some sort. Ever since Columbus bought them back from the West Indies, the pineapple has been a symbol of all things exotic and the luxurious Polynesian-themed tiki bars that popped up all over the US during the 1930s wouldn't be the same without being adorned by the fruit.

This Pineapple lamp base from Graham and Green in antiqued silver is stylish modern take on the mid 20th century tiki exotica trend, meaning you can save the real pineapples for garnishing all those rum drinks.

The lamp is £95 from Graham & Green. Find out more from the website.

Circa Coffee Table from Dwell

Circa table
Another new design from Dwell's latest collection, the Circa coffee table.

A few designer lookalikes aside, Dwell's furniture collection often focuses on a high gloss look – indeed, it mostly crops up here through space age style designs. This table is a change from its usual look with its simple shape, sloping legs and walnut veneer giving it more of a mid-century feel. There's also a dining table with a similar look that's due in towards the end of the month.

The table is due in stock today and costs £249.

Chelsea Girls print by Siggi Eggertsson

Chelsea1

The original poster was a piece of iconic 60s design but Chelsea Girls gets a new look courtesy of this print by Siggi Eggertsson.

Andy Warhol's 1966 film is often remembered more for its poster by Alan Aldridge than for the film itself, which followed some of the residents in New York's Chelsea Hotel. That cast included Nico and the film then inspired her debut album the following year. Probably because of that, Nico is the star of this poster, depicted in a bright and colourful manner that reflects the Pop art associated with Warhol. Add to that some other nice details too – such as the cast list worked into the main design – and you've got a nice piece of original art work for your walls.

The giclee print is available in two sizes at two prices: either A2 for £85 or 60cm x 84cm for £145.

Nextime Disco Clock

Nextime-disco-clock3
It seems disco might be the next big trend in retro interiors as just after featuring Urban Outfitters Rotating Disco Mirror Ball last week, I spotted this Disco Clock by Nextime.

The clock is covered is made up of hundreds of tiny square mirrored tiles with clock hands in black to provide enough contrast to make it easy to tell the time from. Whereas the mirror ball we featured last week was of small proportions, this piece is true to the size of a real disco ball, measuring an impressive 43 centimetres in diameter.

The clock is available to buy from Red Candy, priced £31.50.

eBay watch: 1970s Henri Mathieu ceiling light

Math

A very interesting and eye-catching space age design – this Henri Mathieu ceiling light.

According to the seller, the French designer produced this back in 1970, with a brushed aluminium construction and a lacquered inside, the gaps producing both the light and the lighting effect.

Some wear (see the large images on the site), but no dents, so nothing too serious to worry about. £14.50 is the price right now.
