Midcentury-style Lulu chair at Urban Outfitters

Urban_chair

The US-version of Urban Outfitters has some tasty retro design on its virtual racks, like this midcentury-style Lulu chair, which is only available online.

Available in three colourways, the chair has those cool straight lines, a solid wood frame, hardwood legs (finished with a walnut stain), tufted-back cushions and judging by the amount of cushioning, plenty of comfort too.

As I said, exclusively online (so no need to look for it round your local store), it sells for $425.

Flutter Sleeve Dress by Trinny & Susannah

Trinnysusannah

Best known for their often tactless televisual appearances, Trinny & Susannah may just be last people you expect to create a covetable retro wardrobe. This Flutter Sleeve Dress proves that notion wrong, with a great collision of vintage inspirations from the forties and sixties.

The dress structure, from the flutter sleeves and high neckline to the floating skirt shape, has a truly classic forties feeling. Meanwhile a sixties-influenced paisley print in muted emerald green blends two opposing retro aesthetics with ease and flair.

It's available now from Very for £59.

Bow Peep Toe Heels by Christian Louboutin

Louboutinbow

This season's biggest shoe trend in the world of mainstream fashion is nude colours, allowing them to be matched with every conceivable outfit. This pair from Christian Louboutin do just the same trick for retro lovers, with just the right hint of vintage inspiration on top of their nude shade's appeal.

The bow detail at the vamp, combined with slingbacks and peep toes, add a kitschy retro appeal to a basic high heel shoe. The peach-toned nude colouring fits with a variety of girlish retro looks, from fifties to eighties styles.

Get them online in the UK from Matches Fashion for £520.

No Mas Float Like… Muhammad Ali-inspired t-shirt

Ali

Here's an interesting concept – New York brand No Mas has produced a range of t-shirts featuring the names and words of sport's past. Which happens to include this Float Like… t-shirt.

As you've probably guessed, it's inspired by arguably the greatest boxer of all time (and pop culture icon), Muhammad Ali, a vintage-style logo on the front, a catchphrase on the back. If you love your boxing, you might love this too.

Colette carries the range, with a price tag of just under £40 for each one.

Piet tables: Mondrian-inspired tables by Hugo Passos

Piet table

Mondrian’s distinct artistic style once again inspires new designs with these Piet tables by Hugo Passos.

It’s easy to see how Mondrian’s most famous pieces of the 1920s have inspired these designs. Each side table has asymmetric walnut legs, like a 3D versions of his grid-based painting, while the lacquer coloured table tops are in the same bright blue, yellow and red used in his work. The exposed joinery is a nice touch too.

The tables are infinitely more affordable than a Mondrian original but still pretty pricey for a small table, at £245 each.
