Per Una Pure Wool Baker Boy Hat

Baker boy

Baker Boy hats have gone through some unpleasant phases in fashion, but the 60s versions keep designers coming back again and again. This wool version from Per Una at Marks and Spencer is understated enough to wear time and time again.

With a bubbly shape and petite peak, the wool is the ideal material for this structured design. In a dark grey it has a certain retro charm that's only enhanced by the girlish addition of a floral decoration.

It's available now from Marks and Spencer for just £12.

Charlie T-Bar shoes from Monsoon

Monsoon charlie

The mary jane may be the essential sixties high heel design, but T-bars are undeniably seventies. These Charlie T-bar Shoes from Monsoon have a certain disco vibe that's irresistible.

The design elements are perfectly done, from jazz-shoe inspired straps, to a thick mid heel and the gold chain t-bar design. The peep toe finishes off, while the tan pair's colouring is straight out of Studio 54. As heels go, these will be comfortable enough to never leave the dancefloor, too.

Get them online from Monsoon for £55.

Allrum Tile Stickers

Tilestickers

Floral or patterned wall tiles may be too chintzy even for those of us whose tastes are rooted in the mid-century period, but stickers such as these Allrum Tile Stickers offer a modern twist.

The tiles are available in a choice of four designs, each in four colours (black, beige, red or turquoise). “Harry” features four rearing horses, “Rut” is a 1950s style check, “Agnes” an op-art pattern of squares, but my favourite is “Inga” a hearts and stems design reminiscent of Scandinavian folk art.

Sold in packs of eight, the stickers cost around 14 euros from Scandinavian Design Center.
