Star Trek Interactive Tribbles

Tribble

Quite possibly the geekiest toy we've ever featured on this site – Star Trek Interactive Tribbles.

What's a Tribble you ask? Well, if you've ever seen the original 1960s Star trek episode 'The Trouble With Tribbles', you'll know exactly what they are. For the uninitiated, the Tribble is a cute furry creature that squeaks and has the power to calm down the average human. But there's a drawback – they multiply constantly, so your average spaceship will be full of them in days.

These battery-powered replicas don't multiply, but they do squeak and shake like the originals when 'disturbed', with a beneficial effect on your nerves likely too. They come in two sizes (small and large) and various colours, with prices starting at $14.99 (around £9.25). If you want to see them in the original TV show, see over the page for a clip.

Twenty Twenty One Day Warehouse sale – design classics at bargain prices

91

We love a bargain, but unfortunately we're based well away from the Twenty Twenty One warehouse. Shame really, as the Twenty Twenty One Day Warehouse sale promises some design classics at knockdown prices – and it takes place tomorrow, Saturday 11th July 2009.

As the name suggests, it is held for one day only at the River Street showroom (see below for details), with discounts of up to 90% on showroom samples and ex-display furniture, lighting and accessories. That includes a Saarinen oak top dining table with 50% off, a Le Corbusier LC3 2 seat sofa also with 50% off (£4,071 down to £2,035), an Alvar Aalto 91 birch dining table (above) with 60% off (£1,260 to £504), a George Nelson Petal clock at 70% off (£48) and a limited edition pale blue Panton chair with 70% off, down from £177 to just £53.

If you want to get your hands on any of those (and more), we suspect you'll need to get there early. It all kicks off at 10am, running until 3pm at Twenty Twenty One, 18c River Street, London EC1R 1XN

Globus Wood Chair

Globuschair

If you are looking for a good basic chair, then you may wish to consider the Globus Wood Chair.

It is a simple design, but its curved backrest and use of wenge wood gives it a dash of retro panache. It is practical too – it is suitable for indoors or outdoor use, is stackable and has been designed to support the back.

It costs £205 and can be bought online from Funkion Alley.

Cindy Lauper Print Vest from Miss Selfridge

Cindy Lauper

If you're an eighties fashion lover, you'll no doubt owe some reference points to the every eclectic Cindy Lauper. A young popstrel at the time, she wasn't one who blended into the background, and has become equally known for her sartorial statements as she has for her music.

Tapping into the eighties revival, Miss Selfridge have given us a vest with a print of the lady herself. The image isn't the only thing that's of the era, though, with the vest taking style points in construction. With a slouch fit, muscle vest and even the choice of grey marl jersey fabric, this is ideal for recreating an 80s layerfest.

This vest is new to Miss Selfridge for £18.

Spring Court G2 pumps – MIA France special edition

Springcourt-g2-mia-france

We have featured the Spring Court G2 pumps in the past. They're a footwear classic, famed for being the shoes worn by John Lennon on the cover of Abbey Road as well as being beloved of mods in the 1960s. So it's no surprise that we're taking with this MIA France special edition of the shoe.

Presumably 'France' because of the red and blue detailing, as well as the red, white and blue spare laces that are thrown in as part of the deal. Aside from that, this is very much a classic G2 – canvas upper, gum sole and vulcanised rubber outsole.

Available only (as far as we can see) directly from the French Spring Court website, price is around 60 Euros and they do ship worldwide.
