Shinzi Katoh poster range

Shinzi_poster

We’ve covered bags and homeware from Shinzi Katoh previously, but for fans of the designs, the poster range is certainly worth a look.

Essentially, these are the same retro-styled (and indeed childlike) designs, but in a much larger format – the Deep Forest image above is sized at 61 x 86cm.

All are printed on very high quality Japanese paper (so nice and thick) and all are priced around the £32 mark.

Original Gemma Jones Paintings

Gemmajonescanvas

We’ve featured the work of Gemma Jones here before; as found on t-shirts and Habitat prints. However, this is the first time we’ve listed original Gemma Jones paintings.

Gemma Jones (as you may already know) is a Melbourne based artist whose work usually involves retro and mod girls, taken from 1960s magazines and record covers. The original paintings currently on sale via her Etsy shop, where she goes by the pseudonym Paintergirl, are taken from her 2007 exhibition at the Distracted Gallery in Australia. Each of the five paintings features black silhouettes of women against grey and white patterned backgrounds.

Prices range from $175 to $250 (approximately £90-£130). Visit the Paintergirl Etsy shop to see the full range.

From Fear to Sanity – CND and the art of protest from 1958-1963

Cnd2thumb

Running until 30th August as part of CND’s 50th anniversary, the Chamber of Pop Culture presents “From Fear to Sanity” at London’s Horse Hospital.

The exhibition looks at the importance of visual imagery and the distinctive graphic style used by the CND in its early years between 1958 and 1963. It includes rare and original photographs, leaflets, artwork, posters and films. The exhibition captures the mood of the fear of the nuclear bomb, but also commemorates the determination of the first protesters.

Further details and opening times can be found on the Horse Hospital website.
