Retro Retreat: La Maison Bulle space age bubble house in Gard, South of France

Bubblehouse1

A fascinating house, but we really don’t know a great deal about the background for La Maison Bulle.

What we do know is that this space age bubble-shaped house is located in Gard in the South of France and is available to rent. For your weekly rental fee, you’ll get this self catering accommodation for up to six people, a living room with TV, a kitchen equipped with a fridge, gas cooker, washing machine and dishwasher plus a bathroom.

School Chaise – based on an old school chair

School_chaise

Remember the old plastic school chairs? They are the inspiration behind this newly-launched lounger – the School Chaise.

In fact, this design by Guy Brown for Farm is every bit the school chair, but with ‘distorting elements’, making it more of a lazy lounger than an upright seat, not to mention an eye-catching piece of interior design.

How this orange and black Chaise will actually feel to sit in is anyone’s guess – but I suggest you try before you buy with a price tag of £1,800.

Vintage 1970s Dana-plast Nutcrackers

Nutcrackers1

Classic Modern currently has a small selection of 1970s Dana-plast Nutcrackers, designed by Stig Jorgensen.

Whereas most nutcrackers are made of metal, these are made of glossy plastic. This being Danish design at its best, this doesn’t mean that they’ve sacrificed any functionality to look good. This means they are still more than up to the job of cracking nuts!

The nutcrackers are available in black, brown, purple, yellow, white or clear, priced £11 each. Visit the Classic Modern website to buy.

White Club Sideboard

Sideboard1400

There isn’t much information given about the White Club Sideboard on the website Living 24, but its simple design caught my eye.

It is described as resembling “something out of Star Wars” and whilst it has an undeniably space-age look to it, I think it could look good in many style lounges or hallways without making them look like a Sci-Fi set.

It measures 68cm x 160cm x 45cm and can be ordered from Living 24, priced just over £645.

Hula Girl bathroom accessories from Notorious Kitsch

Hula_shower_curtain_large_2

Looking for a little bit of retro kitsch to brighten up your home? Look no further than this Hula Shower curtain from Notorious Kitsch.

It’s a little bit pin-up, a little bit exotica and looks great for it. Certainly not for any minimalist home, this curtain and matching rug are rather garish, but in a way that’s wholly endearing to me.

If you’re looking for something more understated, the same design is available as napkins, or similar designs in coasters and other homewares are available from the site. This vinyl shower curtain will cost you £20.
