1960s-inspired Leolux Pallone chair

Leolux

Inspired by the 60s and produced in the 1980s, the Leolux Pallone chair still catches the eye today.

Designer Roy de Scheemaker was apparently inspired by Goldfinger, Barbarella and vintage comic strips when creating the chair – and that ‘larger than life’ look is immediately evident.  You can relax in this ‘floating cushion’ or you can use it backwards should you want to sit upright. And even when it’s not in use, it’s going to get your guests talking.

As you might expect, not cheap – you’ll have to pay from £1,250 to get one in your home.

Ettore Sottsass Olivetti Valentine poster

Valentine
We missed the exhibition last year, but the poster celebrating the work of designer Ettore Sottsass is something you shouldn’t pass up.

The Olivetti Valentine poster celebrates one of the designer’s crowning glories – the  Olivetti Valentine. The Valentine was designed in 1969, a space age take on the traditional typewriter created for the home rather than the office.

The poster features that machine in a bold red and white colour scheme, along with the same font used on the original machine. It’s limited edition, produced exclusively for the Design Museum and matt printed on Munken Lynx paper. But best of all, it’s cheap – just £8.

Le Klint 172 – 1970s pendant light

Leklint_172

Looking futuristic, but at the same time, very much of its era is this Le Klint 172 pendant light.

It was designed by Poul Christiansen back in 1971 and available in various sizes to fit the size of your room. All are hand-folded in Denmark from a single flat sheet of plastic and come ready-assembled in the box, along with a white flex, rise cover and an ES lampholder.

Prices start at £146.

Vintage inspired print dresses by Emilio Pucci

Emilio_pucci

In the 1950s Emilio Pucci began designing clothing which would see Marilyn Monroe and Jackie Kennedy among his biggest fans. Now, the fashion label has continued with his themes of bold colours and even more bold prints to make some classic vintage inspired pieces.

Taking geometric prints and a distinctly 70s colour palette, my favourite is the wool jersey dress (right), which costs £640. The designs are available to buy online from Net-a-Porter.

Fully lined and made from a cotton/lycra blend for added fit, it’s well made and undeniably good looking.

It’s available from the Retro Cuties online shop for $99.99 in their current sale.

Orb 72 chair – space age lounging

Orb_72

If you are on the look out for a chair to slide into, you’ll love the retro-styled Orb 72 chair.

The chair has just one armrest – giving you more freedom to lounge about in whatever way you like. And on the technical side, it has a plywood framework, with a felt fabric covering and a metallic base for support.

If you want to do some serious relaxing, you can pick one up for £1,200.
