VW Flag Rug

Vwflagrug_2The doyenne of punk fashion, Vivienne Westwood, has designed a range of rugs, cushions and wall-hangings for The Rug Company.

Most reminiscent of her famous punk aesthetic is the VW Flag Rug, a tapestry Union Jack design. Sadly, the price is light years away from punk values, costing £1,950. The design is repeated in a cushion at a slightly more affordable £275. Both are made using the traditional French tapestry style Aubusson, which may contribute to the high costs.

If you have money to spare, you can see the whole range online at The Rug Company.

Dorothy_wellies

Just in time for the really nasty weather (or at least cold and slippy) weather are these Dorothy Perkins leaf print wellingtons, sold in conjunction with the Woodland Trust.

A choice of two retro-styled designs, in a red or black, with contrasting trims and solid/hard-wearing soles. £5 of the price of each pair will go to the Woodland Trust – and £5 will plant a new tree in the UK.

B-Line Boomerang Lounge Chair

1364A very cosy looking classic chair as our thoughts turn to relaxation at the weekend. The B-Line Boomerang Lounge Chair was designed by former Jazz musician Rodolfo Bonetto in 1968 and it takes its name from the two chrome plated profiles in the sides which are in the shape of a boomerang.

Multiple units can easily be joined together to form modular sofas and there is a handy pocket feature at the back, which you could use to store newspapers (as illustrated here) or perhaps your remote controls.

It is available in a rainbow of colours; bronze, beige, red, blue or lilac and retails for just over £1,000 from Nest.

Old school iPod boom box – made of cardboard

Ipod_boombox
Back in the day, miniature music players would have been laughed out of town – the size of your boom box was all that mattered. And now you can relive that era with this suitably old school iPod boom box.

But this 80s-style stereo isn’t all that it seems – it’s actually a DIY sound system, made of flat-packed cardboard, but with fully working speakers, a dock for your iPod and power from the included batteries.

Just like the real thing – only lighter and with more tunes. It retails for $45 (around £23).

Hamleys mod and punk-themed skateboards

Hamleys_skate
I’d be very surprised if a child of ‘five years plus’ will be bending their parents’ ears for mod and punk-themed skateboards this Christmas, but Hamleys might make a few quid out of bigger kids with them.

The designs are pretty obvious – a target on the mod board, as well as union jack and a flyer, with the punk one featuring…well…something similar, but in pink and without the target. And the words ‘British punk rock’ in case it isn’t clear.

Each skateboard is a 100 per cent Canadian maple deck, pressed with American stuff glue and with 53mm super-high rebound wheels. They retail for £44.99 each.

Swing Chair – 60s-style cool

Swingchair

A modern piece of design with a distinctly 60s feel – the Swing Chair.

It’s available from Onedeko with a variety of fabric options, but we like this Panton-esque covering the most. The chair itself has a chrome base and a curved shape for comfort, with a couple of arm rests thrown in for good measure.

You can order one online, priced at £539.
