Ken Eardley retro-styled ceramics

Ken_jug
We keep encountering retro-styled ceramics from Brighton-based artist Ken Eardley on various sites, so it’s about time we featured them.

All are hand-made, decorated and glazed earthenware with some very eye-catching designs of fruit and flowers, through to household utensils. This Baby Oval Jug in chocolate is typical, with 60s-style flower design and bold colours that should be good for use or display.

It retails for £20.

Freeze-dried 1960s astronaut food

Spacefood

As we mentioned last week, the V&A Museum of Childhood is hosting the Space Age: Exploration, Design And Popular Culture exhibition. And where there’s an exhibition, there’s usually merchandise. This one is no exception, with a range of spacey items to browse, including this freeze-dried 1960s astronaut food.

When we say 1960s, we don’t mean it was made then – this food is a reproduction of food developed for the early Apollo missions. There’s a choice of space treats, including freeze-dried ice cream (in three flavours), freeze-dried ice cream sandwich (which adds chocolate to the mix) and freeze-dried strawberries – all frozen, then dried and sealed in foil pouches to eat when you like or indeed, where you like.

Available from the V&A Shop, you can pick a pouch of your choice up between £3 and £4.

Sailor Jerry Traditional Tattoo Pint Glass Set

Sailorjerry
If you haven’t heard the name before, Sailor Jerry was sailor-turned-tattooist Norman Collins – indeed, he is seen as the father of the ‘old school’ tattoo. He might not be around anymore, but his legacy and his merchandising live on via the Sailor Jerry website. And that includes this Sailor Jerry Traditional Tattoo Pint Glass Set.

The four glasses are rather cool too, with a healthy pint capacity each, a smart giftbox to hold them in and most importantly, a classic Sailor Jerry tattoo design on each one.

If you know someone into tattoos, these should make a great gift. They retail for $52 (around £26).
