Steepletone 60s-style suitcase record player

Steepletone_record
Wander round a few junk shops, vintage places and car boot sales and your’e almost certain to find a Dansette or similar suitcase-style record player. Alternatively, you can buy new – the Steepletone 60s style record player.

Very much in the style of the vintage record players and indeed in terms of functionality, with a diamond stylus, 3-speed play (33, 45 and 78), the option to stack up to seven records, front-facing speakers and a red and black leatherette speakers. The only addition is a MW/FM radio.

O yes – and one other difference is the price, which is £99.90. That’s a good £60 more than an old one, but at least you get a warranty with this.

Karhu Originals Flight Bag

Karhu_flight
Over a year ago, we spotted what we thought was the coolest laptop bag around, but we couldn’t find anywhere to buy it. Well, good things come to all who wait and you can now buy the Karhu Originals Flight Bag.

It was actually made as a sports bag for the 1971 European Athletic Championships in Helsinki, but has since been made into a business bag or laptop case, with two compartments, along with padding for your PC and an adjustable shoulder strap. But the look is exactly the same, complete with the golden skiing bear logo from 1916.

Sized at 38cm x 30 cm x 15 cm and made from vintage helion, you can pick one up online in green and gold for 129 Euros, which is around £90.

eBay Watch: Vintage robot lamp

Robot_lamp
Remember the robots off the Cadbury’s Smash ads? Well, there’s a lamp that looks very much like one on eBay right now.

This vintage robot lamp has rather vague details from the French seller, but we are told that this is ’60s or 70s’ and is made of a metal/chrome mix, with hard plastic legs. And it works by opening the mouth – the wider you open, the brighter the light.

It’s obviously caught the imagination, with the price around £70 with seven days left. But if you get it, you can safely assume no-one else will have one.

Hip Holiday ceramic Christmas ornaments

Hipholiday
Angels and glass baubles, that’s about all you can get for your Christmas tree, unless you dig deeper that is. Last year we featured the recycled vinyl record decorations and this year, we’re highlighting these Hip Holiday ceramic Christmas ornaments.

Not cheap, but very different – you get two decorations, a skyscraper/tower block with a lime green ceramic glaze on the inside (sized at just over 5 inches) and a strange space age circular decoration at 3.5-inch diameter and with a pink ceramic glaze on the inside.

Available online, you can get them for $35.50 (around £18) per set.
