Outre Gallery’s Mid-Century Modern art show

Wildsville
The Outre Gallery is synonymous with mid-century art, so it’s no surprise to see a show covering the work of all the big names – the Mid-Century Modern art show, which runs from August 10th 2007.

Artists on display include Shag, Tim Biskup, Derek Yaniger, Jeff Raglus, Keith Weesner, Lynne Naylor and Andrew Brandou – all showing off original works inspired by the space-age look of the mid-twentieth century – which means atomic architecture, fifties babes and retro design.

Many of the works of art will be offered for sale, as will signed prints. And talking of prints, we’re very taken by Wildsville Man by Derek Yaniger, a signed and numbered limited edition (edition of 100) serigraph print, obviously inspired by Tony Hancock’s The Rebel movie. Sized at 12 x 14 inches, it’s great value at just $30 (around £15).

eBay Watch: Guzzini Ball picnic set

Guzzini_picnic
The weather is improving, so maybe a few picnics later this summer isn’t out of the question. And this Guzzini Ball picnic set on eBay could be worth picking up.

It’s a great piece of 70 space age and comes complete with six large plates, six medium plates, six bowls, six cups, salt and pepper containers and a spare container. So if you have five friends, it’s ideal.

It’s currently at the opening price if £9.99 – I suspect it will not be at that price at the auction end.

Meditation Mushroom Stool

Mushstool
I love the 70s-inspired design of this Meditation Mushroom Stool – but I can’t work out what I could do with it.

Is it really for meditation? Or is it just an occasional seat? I think it’s the latter, but even if you just had it sat around in the house, it would ooze cool.

Available in the typical 70s colour schemes of orange or brown, the swivel base stands at 9.5 inches, the seat a further 7.5 inches and it retails for $100 (around £50).
