Tretorn T-56 – vintage trainers from 1956

Tretorn_t56
We featured the Tretorn Gullwing trainers some time back, but as we’re on a heritage trainer tip, it’s a good time to mention these Tretorn T-56 canvas shoes.

The name reflects the date of design – these were originally produced in 1956 – and over 50 years on, they still look pretty stylish, especially in this violet colour. Nothing revolutionary about the design – canvas upper, rubber sole and a slim and low profile. But it all adds up to a smart bit of footwear.

Yours for £44.99.

Superga 2750 Cotu Classic pumps

Superga
Superga has been making rubber soled footwear in Italy since 1913, so it’s safe to say the brand has some heritage. And while some of the label’s range can probably be classed as weird and wonderful, the simplicity of the Superga 2750 Cotu Classic pumps does work.

A basic white shoe with canvas upper, removable insole and vulcanised rubber sole. For a stroll to the pub on a summer’s day, you can’t go wrong.

They’re available now for £34.99.

Ford to produce Bullitt-themed Mustang

Bullitt_mustang

I’m sure it isn’t going to look exactly like the 1968 Ford Mustang above, but Ford is producing a limited edition Ford Mustang Bullitt. Yes, you too can be Steve McQueen.

The standard Mustang is in production in the US, but this limited edition model will take that modern version and tweak it so it has more of the late 60s looks. Other changes include a souped-up engine, dark green paint job, 18-inch wheels, special badging, sports seats, logo the fuel cap, a unique gear lever and a seemingly endless number of performance tweaks.

That’s the good news, now here’s the bad. As far as I know, the Mustang isn’t available in Europe – and that goes for the Bullitt version too. There will be 7,000 available to the US market and 700 for Canada. No price as yet, but you imagine they’ll not be around for long, whatever the price point.

They’re all about the looks – in terms of technology, the two mice are the same as any other. Both connect to the US port of your computer, have the standard two buttons and work with PCs and Macs.

If you want one, you can pick them up online, priced at a reasonable $24.99 (around £13).

Maddie Powers Firefly pulp novel messenger bags

Maddie_messenger
There’s some great designs on the Maddie Powers website, the majority using designs taken from pulp fiction from the 1940s and 1950s. And we’re very much liking these Maddie Powers Firefly pulp novel messenger bags.

There’s a choice of eye-catching designs available (including the one shown here), all sized at 16 inches x 12 inches x 5 inches and made of thick rip-stock nylon with zip fastener detailing. There’s also an outside pocket, two inside divisions, a zipped inside pocket, mobile holder, notepad pocket and an area for pens.

It can also hold a laptop, but there’s some specific laptop bags coming soon, so it might be best to hold off it that’s what you want. They retail for $75 (around £38).

Thanko vintage-style MP3 Clock

Mp3_clock
Ok, so what’s so special about this clock? Well, it might look like any old vintage clock, but it’s actually an MP3 Clock from Thanko.

So what does that mean? Well, instead of a bell ringing, this one connects to your computer to download music – which can then wake you up. But there’s more – it also offers animal calls, sound effects or even your own voice if you want some to shout at yourself in a morning to get out of bed. Oh yes – and it tells the time too.

Sadly, this is only available in Japan right now, which is a shame, because it retails at the equivalent of £13 – and I’d be happy to have a 60s soul tune get me out of bed from this.
