Pacman Ghost crochet hat and scarf set

Pacman_hat_scarf
The weather’s cold – and if you’re a vintage gaming fan, there’s only one thing to buy – the Pacman Ghost crochet hat and scarf set.

All individually-made by Urban Princess and sold via Etsy, the crochet hat is one-size and the multi-coloured scarf features ghosts with moving eyes.

Not the cheapest hat and scarf set – the hat retails for $40 (around £22) and the scarf $150 (around £80), but it’s almost certain that you’ll be only one on the bus in the morning wearing one.

Onitsuka Tiger Nippon 60 trainers

Onitsuka_nippon_1

Definitely my favourite trainers of the moment are these Onitsuka Tiger Nippon 60 trainers, which, as the name suggests, date back to 1960.

Reissued  by the company for 2007, they were designed for the Japanese delegation at the Olympics in Rome for that year. They feature a contrasting white stripe on the side and front, coupled with the "sun" logo on the side.

Lightweight, available in a number of colours, they’re certainly worth a close look if you fancy something like a bowling shoe. They retail for £75.

Alessi Record Watch by Achille Castiglioni

Alessi_record_1
Although not particularly old, the Alessi Record Watch by Achille Castiglioni certainly looks like a watch with an age to it.

We’ve previously featured the designs of Castiglioni – the Lampadina Lamp, Taccia Lamp and the Sella bicycle seat stool – but this design, created alongside Max Huber, is far more straightforward.

Introduced in 1988 and reissued in 2004, it’s made by Seiko for Alessi with a clear/simple display, stainless steel casing and a choice of coloured leather band. A stylish watch with a heritage and good value for £69.99.

Horizon space age armchair

Horizon_armchair
Yet another example of good modern design with one eye on the past – the Horizon armchair.

Designed by Arik Lévy, it’s an armchair made of "cold processed flexible polyurethane". No, we don’t know what it is either, but it’s apparently very comfortable to sit on. You can go for the full-on retro colour scheme (as pictured here) or something more plain/boring in either fabric or leather.

It’s available to order now, priced at £1,149.

7-inch single iPod cases

Record_ipod
More quirky retro iPod cases, but these 7-inch single iPod cases are actually quite eye-catching.

All the cases are made from reclaimed 45rpm records that are custom-fitted to your iPod. In fact, they’re ideal for the job – the centre hole is same size as an iPod click wheel. The sleeves are also one-offs, so you’ll have to be quick off the market to catch your favourite tune. And if it isn’t there, check back every Friday – because new ones are added each week.

Available online now, you can pick one up for $45 (around £25). Oh yes, the one feature here is Revolution by The Beatles – and it’s just sold.

Retro dog collars and leads

Retro_dogcollar
Go down to your local pet store and you’ll probably have very little choice for a dog collar, with the exception of size and colour. That’s not the case at Retro Pet, which has a huge range of retro pet collars, harnesses and leads.

Available for all sizes of dog, you can choose from exotic designs including "Mod Psychedelic Swirl", "Retro Orange Atomic", "Mocha Dahlias" and the one featured here – "Psychedelic Flowers".

Prices vary, with collars around $21 (£11),  leads around $28 (£15) and harnesses around $40 (£22).
