A Model Girl at the Greenwich Theatre, London

Amodelgirl
There’s an interesting new theatrical production over at the Greenwich Theatre in London – A Model Girl –  which dramatises the events of the Profumo affair in the early sixties.

It’s actually a musical, featuring new songs in the tradition of jazz, ska and beat of the era. The storyline tells the tale of how a beautiful girl comes to London, turns the heads of the rich and famous and ends up in the bed of a Minister, in the arms of a Russian spy and at the heart of the downfall of the Government.

The production, written by Richard Alexander and Marek Rymaszewski and directed by Ruth Carney, runs from Tuesday 30th February to Saturday 24th February. See the website for booking details.

eBay Watch: Bang and Olufsen Beolit 707 radio

Beolit707
For those of that can’t afford the latest Bang and Olufsen appliances, it’s good to know there’s such a vibrant secondhand market, particularly on eBay. In fact, some of the older products have more character than the modern minimalist designs, including the Bang and Olufsen Beolit 707 radio.

Designed by Jacob Jensen and in production between 1975 and 1981, it’s a really sharp-looking slimline radio. And better still from a design point, it came in a range of bold colours. It’s mains or battery powered, has three bands (FM, long and medium) and bass, treble and volume control.

And being B&O, it has the build and sound quality (especially if serviced), looking and sounding as good as the day they first hit the shelves. The model here is up for around £80, which is roughly the price these are currently selling for.
