Horrockses Fashions were best known for their floral dress designs in the 1940s and 1950s label and have cropped up a few time on this blog: both because of the exhibition at the Fashion and Textile Museum last year, and the range of products inspired by the label available from the V&A. Some of their best loved patterns are now being revived on bedlinens.

Arne Jacobsen-style Gordon table lamp from Graham and Green
Graham and Green's website says this Gordon table lamp is inspired by 1940s design, and there's no denying the retro appeal of the design. However, with the distinctive shape of that shade, it reminds me of a much later design – Arne Jacobsen's AJ lamps, which dates to 1960.
The main difference is the stand: the Gordon lamp has been mounted onto a metallic stand and base, which brings more of an industrial look and prevents the lamp from being purely an imitation design.
While a AJ lamp would cost you around £500, this lamp costs £95.

Grasshopper lamp by Greta Grossman
A 1940s design reissued for the twenty-first century, the grasshopper lamp by Greta Grossman looks just as good today.
The floor lamp was first produced in 1947 and is instantly recognisable for its tubular tripod stand. It's been re-issued by Danish company Gubi who are producing it in five different colours – including three variants on grey, as well as jet black and a shade they're calling vintage red.
The lamp costs £565.

Odyssey chair at Graham and Green
Cast your mind back and you may be able to remember the Odyssey desk, inspired by a 1940s design. That design proved understandably popular, so Graham and Green have produced an accompanying Odyssey chair.
The design is exclusive to the company and the back and arms echoes some of the sharp angles of the desk. The unusual look is completed by a suspended back, and gently sloping back legs. The design is completed by the linen seat.
The chair costs £195 and is currently available to pre-order online.
