Interesting one this. A leading interiors magazine is running a campaign to extend the copyright on design in the UK from 25 years. If successful, it would effectively outlaw reproduction pieces from the UK market. Good news for design houses, perhaps not good news for classic design lovers on a budget. But right now, pieces like these CLC Living reproduction classics at Achica are still good to go.
Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni’s Arco floor lamp for Flos heavily discounted at Achica
Various high street budget versions have been available for a number of years from the likes of John Lewis and Marks & Spencer, but there’s nothing like the real thing when it comes to the Arco floor lamp by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni for Flos. If you want the original, now is a good time to get one, as Achica has it in clearance.
Yes, this 1962 design, inspired by street lights and still an icon of the era, is now more affordable. Although you will need a large room to fit it in. As you would expect, the floor lamp has a white Carrara marble base and a telescopic arched stem of stainless steel (with a satin finish) for adjustable, directional light. A dimmer switch also offers up an ambient glow for mood lighting too.
That size? 232cm tall (between 7 and 8ft) and 220cm tall. Usually it sells for £1,429, but for the next two days, it’s yours for £999.

Kare Design Sputnik Hanging Lamp discounted at Achica
We have mentioned Achica a few times – it’s an online ‘club’ that does short-term clearance sales of interesting brands. Indeed, they’ve got a clearance of Design House Stockholm right now, which is well worth a look. But we’ve picked out something from elsewhere on the site – this Kare Design Sputnik Hanging Lamp.
It’s a stunning, 1960s-inspired centrepiece for a room, made of chrome-plated metal with 20x 20 watt bulbs providing the light in the room. Bulbs, you’ll not be suprised to hear, are not included.
The entire structure is about 54cm high and around 53cm wide and usually sells for £249. But for the next day or so, you can get one from Achica for £149. So if you fancy a Sputnik, don’t hang about. Note that you do have to register at Achica to enter the site, but it only takes seconds and is free.
CLC Living Designs at reduced prices at ACHICA
There seems to be a growing number of websites offering big discounts to registered customers. As well as Dotmaison’s Group Buy scheme and Made, ACHICA offers luxury brands at low prices exclusively for its members, which this week includes iconic designs from CLC Living, such as this Union Jack Chest of Drawers.
The chest is design in the classic French style, and finished with a Union Jack pattern with an antique finish. I’ve seen similar products, but what is special here is the price – reduced from £645 to £299 if you register (its free) and order soon.
