Kartell Pop Armchair and Sofa

1758
The Kartell Pop Sofa consists of two armchairs that can easily be detached from and reattached one another, should you wish to change your seating configuration.

This is what the manufacturer describes as “infinitely repeatable”, a quality that is probably most useful if this furniture is used in a business location. What caught my eye about the Pop Sofa was not this flexibility, but its upholstery options, which include the 1970s style options of jeans, orange or mustard coverings. The two-seater sofa costs £1572 for most fabrics or £1763 in the jeans option, whilst a single armchair costs £894 or £928.

eBay watch: 1960s ‘Bond villain’ space age armchair

Bond

Right, here's a challenge to our regular 'design' readers – can you name this armchair design? It's listed as a 1960s Bond Chair, which I'm guessing is because of its similarity to the kind of chair Bond villains kicked back in 'back in the day'. I'm happy to be corrected though.

For your money, you get a fibreglass frame, a tulip base that swivels 360 degrees and a padding black leatherette inner.  That's the good part.

On the downside, it has not been re-upholstered, so there's some 'cracking' with age. Otherwise, it's described as being in 'excellent' condition. Bidding stands at (and indeed opens at) £250. More images on the listing.

eBay watch: 1960s Joe Colombo Elda armchair

Colombo

You can buy them in the UK, although they're both expensive and incredibly hard to find. So this used version of the iconic Joe Colombo Elda armchair could be worth considering, if you want one in your home.

Amazingly, it sates back to 1963, although it's generally considering a seat of the 70s – perhaps because of its widespread use in sci-fi movies and TV shows of that era.

For your money you get a reinforced ABS plastic swivel seat, with a plush interior of contrasting leather, in this case brown. The current owner has had it for a few years, but describes it as being in 'good condition' with 'a few marks' from age on the shell and obviously, some wear on the leather. £2,300 is the price.

eBay watch: 1970s Raphael Raffel space age Plexi Ball Chair

Raffel

This is actually one of two being sold by the seller, one of two Raphael Raffel space age Plexi Ball Chairs that is.

It's a fantastic 1970s space age design out of France, made of smoked plexi glass for the outer, with synthetic brown leather for the inner seating, finished off with that tulip-style base.

Condition is down as 'good', as well as being in 'original and unrestored' condition, so a few scratches and some wear to the upholstery. See the close-up images for the lowdown. No doubt this is a rare design, with a price to reflect that – £604.25 or you can make an offer.

Linea Adelphi midcentury-style armchair at House of Fraser

Adelphi

Yes, yet another midcentury-inspired design from the current House of Fraser range – the Adelphi armchair.

It's a classic armchair that takes the 1950s for its inspiration and is exclusive to the House of Fraser store. For your money, you get that high back, slightly curved arms, stained and angled legs plus a finish in a lime green fabric. Good back support too apparently, if that's important to you.

It was £399, but £299 is the current price.

1960s-style Mika swivel chair at DFS

Mika

Not a company we feature often, but we've just stumbled across this eye-catching Mika swivel chair at DFS, which is packed with 1960s charm.

It's a 'Bond villain' chair for sure, a big chunky affair in leather and not just in 'chalk white' – there are 29 shades to choose from. Also love the hugh buttoned back and metallic swivel base, perfect for sitting and stroking our villainous cat.

It's half price right now, selling online for £598.
