Nomada 30-style armchair by Doblege and Sancal

Oskar

Not a vintage piece, but if you are after something with a look of the 1930s, you might want to check out this Nomada armchair at Oskar.

Designed by Doblege and Sancal, it has that sloping back and high arms you would expect on a 30s-style easy chair, although if you don't like the exposed arms, but like the shape, there's also an option for covered arms too.

Talking of covering, upholstery options include both fabric and leather, with prices starting at £545.

Heals sale starts – up to 50 per cent off

Mistral

We love a sale, especially when the retailer has some tasty retro items in it. Like the Heals sale.

Actually it's called the 'Spring Home Event', but it's much the same, with up to 50 per cent off its range. To be honest, we haven't found much to get our pulses racing with the full discount, but there is a good selection of items marked down, from retro-style Newgate clocks to larger items like the Mistral sofa and armchair range (pictured above).

We have featured these midcentury-inspired gems previously and if you like those 50s-style looks, they're now available with a price cut – the armchiars at £876 (from £1,095), the sofas at £1,436 (from £1,795). Check those out and all the other sale items online now.

1960s-style Dali swivel armchair at Furniture Village

Dali

A seat that's certainly worth a second look on the high street – this Dali swivel armchair at Furniture Village.

It's very much in the 'James Bond villain' style of 1960s-like seating, complete with chrome base and a hardwood frame that hosts the semi-aniline leather upholstery. The fixed cushions, elasticated webbed back support and 'sinuous springs' should keep you comfy as you spin too.

Don't worry if you're not keen on the 'aubergine' leather finish above, you can choose from a total of 10 shades of leather, including more traditional black and brown. But here's the good news – it's now heavily discounted, down from £899 to £599, which makes it a far more attractive option.
