Designed this year, Matthew Hilton’s McQueen Bedside Chest nonetheless has a hint of midcentury style to it. Some of that may be the name, which I like to think as referring to the actor Steve (although I suppose it could a reference to the designer Alexander).
If you liked the Plumo’s Danish bedside cabinets, but couldn’t order them because you are in the USA, then Urban Outfitters has a great alternative for you.
The Danish Storage Unit has beautifully curved edges, angled legs, a deep shelf and two drawers. It is a dark wood finish. It costs just $129, which at that price makes the idea of hopping on a plane to bring one back seem tempting.
Buy it online from Urban Outfitters.
The Sleep Room has recently diversified its product range, so that as well as beds, mattress and linens, they now sell bedside tables too. They have started their collection off with three style, including the Campaign Bedside Table.
Not sure about the origin of the name, but the design was apparently inspired by a 1940s sideboard spotted in a Parisian market. It is made from oak with vintage bronze finish metal legs and has one drawer.
The table costs £225 from The Sleep Room.
