Angie Lewin for St Jude’s mugs

Lewin mug

It was only couple of weeks ago we told you about tea towels Angie Lewin had designed for St Jude's first collection of homewares. We also mentioned how they were also planning to do their own mug range. And here it is…

The bone china mugs feature the same designs you can get on the tea towels, plus a few others such as the dandelion design shown here and the Skye mug. All the mugs use the same muted colour palette and share the same retro feel.

The mugs cost £7.25 each.

1950s-designed Honesty Rug from John Lewis

Honesty
This Honesty Rug from John Lewis continues the on-going trend for companies going back through their archives and re-issuing designs.

If the resulting products are as attractive as this rug, long may the trend continue! It's based on a 1953 design by Mary White, originally called 'Coppice' (I'm not sure why they changed the name). It fits in well with many of the designs being produced today, showing black outlines of plant forms against a charcoal and yellow colour scheme.

The rug is hand-tufted, costs £450 and should hopefully still be looking as attractive in another 57 years.

New retro mugs from ISAK

Isak mugs

More fun and attractive retro designs courtesy of ISAK's new mugs. Sandra Isaksson's distinctive designs are as bright and appealing as ever, drawing on a range of influences.

The fish mug has a Scandinavian feel and reminds me of the New House Textile 50s herring design jar we featured a little while back, while the flower design has a similar look to all the reworked Fifties florals that have been seen recently. This design is also available on a pink background and, to complete the set, the range also includes a great pea-pod design.

Both mugs are made from bone china and, thankfully, are dishwasher safe. You can buy them for £7.25 each.

Lotta Kuhlhorn tea towels at Utility Designs

Lotta tea towel

We've shown you some of Lotta Kuhlhorn's distinctive homewares before, including her great apple design. It's been a bit tricky in the past to find a UK stockist that carries a wide range of her products but thankfully Utility Designs has stepped into the gap.

As well as all the apples you could possibly want, there are a few new interesting products for your home, all using her trademark retro patterns. This Agneta Red Berries tea towel, for example, is one of a couple they have in stock and has a bold berry print and is sure to brighten up a kitchen.

The tea towels cost £11.50.

Angie Lewin tea towels from St Judes

Lewin towels

St Jude's produce some lovely fabrics with a great retro look, including the Angie Lewin Hedgerow fabric we featured at the start of the year. If you like the look, you'll be pleased they've started reproducing some of Lewis' original fabric designs as tea towels, an easily affordable way to buy into the look.

There are three designs in total, stocked at Illustrated Living, including the Clifftop and Clocks designs pictured above. They're typical of her style showing skeletal 50s-style illustrations of plant forms and are screen-printed onto 100% organic cotton.

Watch this space, as St Jude's are soon to be launching their first range of ceramic mugs. In the meantime, these tea towels cost £9.95 each.
