eBay watch: 1960s Joe Colombo Elda armchair

Colombo

You can buy them in the UK, although they're both expensive and incredibly hard to find. So this used version of the iconic Joe Colombo Elda armchair could be worth considering, if you want one in your home.

Amazingly, it sates back to 1963, although it's generally considering a seat of the 70s – perhaps because of its widespread use in sci-fi movies and TV shows of that era.

For your money you get a reinforced ABS plastic swivel seat, with a plush interior of contrasting leather, in this case brown. The current owner has had it for a few years, but describes it as being in 'good condition' with 'a few marks' from age on the shell and obviously, some wear on the leather. £2,300 is the price.

eBay watch: 1970s Crayonne Moon table lamp for Habitat

Crayonne

We have featured one of these in the past, but if you missed out on that 1970s Crayonne Moon table lamp for Habitat, there's another one there now with a low starting price.

As we mentioned before, Crayonne was a Habitat brand in the 1970s, with this lamp being sold in the early to mid-70s in the design store. I stands just over 21cm tall, with the lamp a mix of yellow plastic and chrome.

According to seller, the yellow plastic is 'crazed', but is listed as a design fault rather than more recent damage. It's also been checked and a new plug added. Right now, it's at £4.99.

Farmer’s Cottage space age garden spheres at John Lewis

Pod1

With a name like Farmer's Cottage, you perhaps imagine something traditional for your garden, not something like these space age spheres, which look straight out of the 1970s.

There are three different (but similar) designs, all made to order and offered in three different sizes – the smaller rotating sphere seater, the slightly bigger rotating sphere larger and the top-end deluxe summer house sphere.

2011: Living in the Future book by Geoffrey Hoyle reissued – 2011 as seen from the 1970s

Hoyle1

Not sure how we missed this reissue at the back end of 2010, the reissue of the 2011: Living in the Future book by Geoffrey Hoyle that is, courtesy of Green Tiger Press.

Originally published back in 1972 and primarily aimed at children, it was as mix of text and illustrations (courtesy of Alasdair Anderson) that attempted to predicted what life would be like in 2011, a modern-day utopia of three-day working weeks, breakfast factories, 'vision phones' and traffic-free commutes. Some have obviously not happened, but one or two of the predictions have. Those phones for example.

If you want to re-live your childhood or you want a child's eye view of the future promised to us all those years ago, you can grab the 64-page hardback reissue now online, priced at £7.50. An inside shot over the page.

eBay watch: 1970s Raphael Raffel space age Plexi Ball Chair

Raffel

This is actually one of two being sold by the seller, one of two Raphael Raffel space age Plexi Ball Chairs that is.

It's a fantastic 1970s space age design out of France, made of smoked plexi glass for the outer, with synthetic brown leather for the inner seating, finished off with that tulip-style base.

Condition is down as 'good', as well as being in 'original and unrestored' condition, so a few scratches and some wear to the upholstery. See the close-up images for the lowdown. No doubt this is a rare design, with a price to reflect that – £604.25 or you can make an offer.

eBay watch: 1970s Colani UFO ceiling light in orange

Colani

We did feature one of these back in 2010, but we've not seen a Colani UFO ceiling light in orange before.

it certainly looks impressive in that colour, along with the contrasting clear panels. Not bad condition either for something well over 30 years old. This 1970s space age classic in what's described as 'used but very good' condition – some minor wear, but nothing you would notice without a close inspection.

Check out loads of images on the listing and if you like it, the current price is £24.
