Leopard Cloche Hat from River Island

Leopardcloche
Many fashion designs which draw on a number of eras for inspiration can go wrong, with clashing influences sitting uneasily together. This Leopard Print Cloche by River Island, however, has done so with a result that's got great kitschy appeal.

The leopard print has a nod to styles from fifties pinup to seventies safari, while the cloche is traditionally pre-War as a hat shape. The wider brim, however, ties into the seventies aspect once more, creating a hat that's updated without losing it's retro roots to modern fashion.

It's available online from ASOS for £22.

Sixties Shift dress by Karen Millen

Karen_millen

The title pretty much sums up what this is – a Sixties Shift dress by Karen Millen.

Very much inspired by 'swinging London' not least with the black and white finish, this is a colourblock shift dress with bib front detail and a length that sits just above the knee, the whole thing finished off with branded Karen Millen metalwork and a contrast buttoned waist.

Not the cheapest dress on the high street though, with a price tag of £175.

1940s Vintage Pearl Tiara

Pearl-sensation-side-tiara_1893 There's been a lot of talk about a certain royal wedding of late and this 1940s vintage pearl tiara seems to fit in very well.

Even if you're not attending the wedding, this statement floral tiara featuring a romantic layered floral adornment encrusted with clear Austrian crystals and pale ivory faux pearls set on a double silver tone band brings a lot of glamour to your head. It encapulate the old-school Hollywood glamour of the 1940s and although would be ideal for a bride, can also be worn out to another elegant evening do by those less keen on the royals.

The antique tiara can be yours for £69.50 from Glitzy Secrets.

70s style Wideleg Trousers from Miss Selfridge

Widelegtrousers

After seasons of decidedly uninspiring choice in trousers on the high street, this year has brought us a great variety of vintage inspired cuts from the return of flares to cigarette pants. Joining the pack this season is seventies style wide-legs, like this great pair from Miss Selfridge.

With an unmistakeably seventies look, these are pitch perfect in cut and fabric choice. The super high waist, wide leg and front crease combine to create a look that's ideal for Cagney and Lacey's evening wardrobes. Finished in a deep burgundy and with a chic front clasp, these are the kind of pants that make a whole outfit.

Get them new from Miss Selfridge for £45.

Classic Suit Jacket from Matalan

Classicjacket

`Higher end designers may be moving away from early sixties suiting, thanks to the waning love affair with Mad Men style, but there's plenty of choice left in more affordable outlets. This Classic Suit Jacket from Matalan provides a hint of upper class 60s chic for the office or beyond.

The sharp cut achieves its retro credentials thanks to the feminine cropped bodice and slim sleeves, with a high collar creating just the right tone. In a bright monochrome colour palette, large buttons create the perfect Chanel-inspired styling without the price.

It's available now from Matalan for £28.
