Birkin Dress by Wheels & Dollbaby

Wiggle

Here at Retro To Go, we're well aware of the many retro reproduction labels producing fantastic wiggle dresses at the moment, but this one has something different. While most designs feature edgy prints and patterns, this Wheels & Dollbaby number has taken a very different tack.

Combining the sultry, figure hugging wiggle skirt with a prim and proper fifties floral provides a clever juxtaposition. The Birkin Dress ends up being something that fits many more occasions than the dancefloor, but with an undeniable retro flair still intact.

It's available online from ASOS for £130.

Gigi Sunglasses from Fred Flare

Gigi sunglasses

Many of the myriad pairs of oversized sunglasses available at the moment lean heavily on a sixties aesthetic, but they're just as suited to a seventies influence. These Gigi Sunglasses from Fred Flare are a fantastic take on seventies shades.

The pentagonal frame shape lends well to the seventies look, with squared edges instead of the bubbly sixties look. Gold highlighting and sleek straight arms give these a high end disco era look that's luxurious and bold without costing a fortune.

Get them online from Fred Flare for just $11.

Fifties Floral Dresses from Matalan

Matalan

Matalan may have a reputation as a one stop shop for the cheaper end of clothing, but that certainly doesn't mean it's all boring basics. Their womenswear lines continue to improve, and these 50s influenced summer dresses are a perfect example.

Both taking bold and bright floral prints, these two dresses carry a vintage aesthetic thanks to their shape. Left is a classic prom shape, with full skirt and high waist. The Belted Watercolour Shift Dress on the right is our favourite, giving a classic 50s housewife shape with a bright modern twist.

The dresses cost £20 and £25 respectively from Matalan stores or online now.

New Swinging Sixties collection from Totem

Totem

Brazilian fashion is a burgeoning and intriguing end of the industry spectrum, bringing a decidedly different take on many of fashion's historical influences. Fred D'Orey's Totem brand is currently showing off a new look at retro with his Swinging Sixties line.

Featuring a heavy influence of mod looks, mixed with some seriously psychedelic prints and shapes, this line is a fresh look at British and American sixties fashion from outside. With a sprinkling of Brazilian sunshine, the psychedelic prints are eye-blazingly bright, but work well thanks to their faithful vintage reference points.

Much of the new designs are available in the UK online from Bohemia of Edinburgh.
