That’s right folks, it’s coat time of year again. If you’re investing this year, you could do much worse than this ‘Retro’ coat by Full Circle. In a heavy wool blend it’ll do all the practical things like keep you warm, but more importantly it looks rather nice too.

The belted A-line shape and mid-thigh hem give this coat a simple, but effective, sixties style silhouette. The best feature for me, though, is the high buttoned collar, which makes the coat a little less ordinary.

Retrospective fashion often translates into the vaguely cartoonish with revivalists, with everything that screams a particular decade or scene worn from head to foot. If you’re a lover of classic fifties fashion design, but not quite prepared for the all out red lipsticked rockabilly look, a more wholesome interpretation like this from French Connection is perfect.

With the classic 50s circle style skirt, this high necked dress combines a fitted bodice and more demure lower half in classic style. The chevron stripes are a nice touch, with a contrast stripe belt holding everything together.

The Seventies American student look is one of my favourite retro choices for everyday wear, but casual attire often means splashing out seems a little bit daft. Thankfully, a recent resurgence of seventies influence means you can get the essentials in places as unlikely as your local Tesco.

Their Cherokee range is currently stocked with great vintage floral blouses, denim waistcoats and bootcut flares. These brown cord trousers, though fairly run of the mill, are surprisingly hard to get hold of elsewhere.

Prices start at £12 for blouses and just £15 for trousers, and are available at most larger Tesco stores.

Who would have thought that vintage wallpaper could be so versatile? Italian designer Drawflowers has come up with a number of use, besides the obvious one of putting it on your wall. Alongside wallpaper covered bags and notebooks, they have made some beautiful Vintage Wallpaper Jewellery.

Taking authentic 1970s vinyl wallpaper, Drawflowers has created distinctive necklaces, earrings and badges. The necklaces cost $18 (approximately £10) and the earrings and badges are under $5, which isn’t bad for something unique.
