Retro Olympic t-shirts by Eight

Olympic_retro

Sporting events of decades past remain as icons in history, be it the first world cup you remember or Olympic games as iconic as Mexico 1968. For retro design lovers, the logos of past Olympic games are a treasure trove, providing a snapshot of the achingly modern design of the times.

Design brand Eight have hit on a winner, then, with these simple but great looking Olympic t-shirts. On a simple fitted tee, the logos of a wide variety of Olympic games including this pair, still look eye-catching and very much of their time.

Bettie Page style jumper dress and blouse

Bettie_dress

Sadly, the rockabilly look as been misappropriated by the painfully
fashionable (as opposed to the painfully stylish), but that shouldn’t
stop you looking at Bettie Page stylings like this one from Bernie Dexter.

Of course, doing ‘a Bettie’,
doesn’t mean you have to send everyone’s pulses racing with dangerous
and raunchy gear, as this sleek two-piece overall is testament to. This great outfit allows you to dress up for a
formal ‘do, or just as easily sport it on a rock ‘n’ roll dancefloor. The blouse buttons
up the
back and you can still be bad, even if you look like you’re a
goodie-two-shoes!

Get it from Bernie Dexter’s website for $130.

Zoom-like Rocket Ice Lolly Necklace

Zoomnecklace

The Zoom was introduced by Lyons Maid in the spring of 1963 and was a tie in with the Steve Zodiac Fireball television series. It featured distinctive horizontal sections in lime, lemon and strawberry flavours.

I haven’t seen one for years, but Punky Pins have immortalised this retro ice lolly in necklace form as part of their summer collection. They are just calling it a Rocket Ice Lolly Necklace but it is most definitely modelled on the Zoom.

It measures 9cm high and comes on a silver-plated ball chain. It costs £15 from Punky Pins.
