With everyone going sale mad (just in time for summer of course), it’s
worth checking out some of the more pricier ranges. Over at Brown’s,
there’s a rake of great bargains.

This psychedelic Lula dress, by Diane von Furstenberg, with
damask café print in brown and beige should knock ’em dead wherever you
go. Even though it may look a bit like something Margot from the Good
Life might wear, this is anything but ’70s tack.

This is pure, loose
fitting Woodstock chic, which is pretty apt as we’re slap bang in the

To get the ’50s look just-so, you can’t go buying any old garb. That
period of pop-culture was a time when attention to detail was king and
for lovers of the rock ‘n’ roll period, nothing’s changed.

Of course,
the staple of the ’50s girl wardrobe was the cardigan, and Edith and
Ella have got this great authentic styled baby blue cardigan with gold
buttons and detailing on the nape. It’s 100% cotton and looks to be a
great fit. You could probably pull this off with the mod look, but it’s

for grabbing a bargain or two. Of the retro finds, the item that stands
out the most is this modette Thomas Vicary Panel Skirt.

This great two-toner looks like the outfit of some super-cool
60s sci-fi film, and more practically, is a fully lined jersey cut and
sew
skirt, with concealed side zip. True to all retro-futuristic dresses,
it’s machine washable and guaranteed to attract the eye of any handsome
star fleet generals.

With summer only just hitting its stride, the fashion houses are already looking forward to the A/W season and showing us some decidedly unseasonal items.

If you want to shop ahead, this Moschino Bow-front coat is a great wardrobe staple with some added retro feel. The combination of A-line with the oversized bow neck provides a sophisticated, classic 60s look that’s high end.

The coat is currently available from Net-a-Porter online for a quite staggering £1025. If you’ve got that sort of money, at least this won’t soon go out of style.

For unmistakably authentic vintage look clothing with quality and style there isn’t a whole lot of brands upon which you can rely, but one of those which stands out is Mode Merr. Their designs cover a variety of retro styles, mainly focused on the 1950s.

This great, rockabilly styled Fancy Vamp peasant dress is a stand out original as its cut and look are unlike many of the overdone retro styles available. Perfect for rockabilly girls, the figure hugging skirt is perfectly offset by the more feminine blouse at the chest. With the addition of the staple leopard print it’s a dress that’s worth airing again and again.
