The Urban Parka

Urban_parka
A new company under the name of Armadillo Scooter Wear has attempted to update the old parka, replacing it with the Urban Parka.

Available for men and women (the women’s one is pictured here), the Urban Parka is designed for scooter riding and adverse conditions, featuring armour in the shoulders and elbows if you come off, a waterproof/breathable fabric and specific pockets for a mobile, MP3 player and headphone loops.

You can pick one up in the khaki or black, with both costing a lot more than the old army surplus – at £175.

Paul Frank Anarchy t-shirt

Paulfrank_anarchy
You can always rely on Paul Frank for a quirky t-shirt – and our favourite right now is this Paul Frank Anarchy t-shirt.

Alternatively titled Julius and Nancy, it’s a walk down the Kings Road in ’76, with Julius playing Sid and Nancy playing Nancy in front of a distressed Union Jack and collage-style text, not to mention that all-important anarchy symbol.

You can pick one up online, priced at £25.

Zeha retro-styled trainers out of Berlin

Zeha

Zeha is a company with a heritage dating back to 1897, but has only recently become available worldwide.

The company was based in East Germany, making sportswear for the GDR Olympic team on the 1960s and indeed, the Soviet Union football team in the same decade. The label died after the Berlin Wall fell, but was rediscovered in 2002 by two Berlin designers (Alexander Barré and Torsten Heine), who turned the company into a modern-day sports label.

And the results are both retro and stylish, headed up by the awfully-named Streetwear collection, which includes this 4010 model in a light blue suede (other colours are available), thin sole and traditional Zeha branding. No retailers in the UK, so prices aren’t clear – I’m guessing around £70.

Oasis Bauhaus Print Drop Waist Dress

BauhausdressIt seems the high street has gone Bauhaus crazy as this is the second item of clothing we’ve come across this week that alludes to the design movement.

The Oasis Bauhaus Print Drop Waist Dress is a little silk number in pink, red and black with an all over print of squares and semi-circles. It also has some beading detail consisting of black circles and squares. As well as being a pretty dress, there can’t be many dresses around with such high brow references!

It costs £65 and can be bought in stor or from the Oasis website.

Urban Outfitters’ Bauhaus Tee

5111415164679_medBauhaus: you’ve visited the exhibition, you’ve admired the architecture, you’ve coveted the furniture – all that remains for you to do is get the t-shirt. Ever reliable when it comes to printed t-shirts, Urban Outfitters is currently selling the Bauhaus Tee.

The print consists of triangles, lines and geometric shapes that were beloved of the movement, although I would have expected the use of more primary colours to be more in keeping with the style.

It costs £28 and is available to buy online now.
