I absolutely adore knitwear, which probably explains my woolen dress
shopping spree a couple of weeks ago. I remember fondly my mother’s own ’70s knitting patterns, but this collection’s designs are a foray a little further into luxury than cable knit mittens on strings.

new book from Weardowney Knit Couture. This gorgeous little manual
contains 20 hand knit designs, from fabulous dresses to cute cardies, and even
tells the plebs like myself how to start from the very beginning.
It’s a welcome change to see a high street shop doing something other than sixties-influenced dresses and Topshop is leading the way with this Beaded Flapper Dress.
Taking its inspiration from the dresses of the Roaring Twenties, it is a rich burgundy colour with jewel detailing around the waist and hem. It perhaps doesn’t have the exclusivity of a 1920s garment but it is a pretty dress that could see you through the approaching party season.

We do love the designs of Orla Kiely and we love a bargain, so we were delighted to hear about the Orla Kiely Winter Sample Sale.
Taking place from Thursday 8th November until Sunday 11th November in Clapham, it is a great chance to snap up past products and samples at massively reduced prices. The sale includes bags, accessories and clothing.

There’s been a huge surge in vintage-inspired fashion at the moment, which is a bit of a double edged sword for retro lovers. Firstly, it’s a massive pain to see people wearing retro style badly, but at least it does mean there’s an awful lot more affordable choice around.
