Isaac Mizahri’s designer Charlie Brown inspired dress

PeanutsIt seems an odd thing to ask, "Have you girls ever wanted to dress up like a stylish Charlie Brown?" but for lovers of the classic comic strip now’s your chance.

Grabbing obvious inspiration from Charles M. Schultz’ Peanuts, Isaac Mizahri has designed this one off sequinned dress which is on sale now on eBay.

As part of the MetLife Snoopy in Fashion project, it’s one of many dresses lending inspiration from the cult classic. All the proceeds go to charity, so you’re allowed feel extra smug on top of all the comments this one could grab.

Floppy Felt Hat

19130857_mThis Floppy Felt Hat is part of the Heidi Klum for Accessorize Collection, but the supermodel is not the first person that this style brings to mind. Rather it reminds of me of stars of the 1970s as it seems like the sort of thing that Diane Keaton circa the Godfather or Anita Pallenberg would wear.

Anyway back to this hat – it is a gorgeous orange colour which is particularly good at this time of year and it is decorated with some brown stones around the brim, which add to its seventies bohemian vibe.

It is priced £25 and is available to buy online from Accessorize now.

Monsoon Zuria Beaded Cream Dress

15211413_m1While everyone else is dressing for autumn in black, grey and purple, you can stand out from the crowd in the Zuria Beaded Cream Dress from Monsoon’s new Storm Collection.

Its combination of bib front, long-sleeves and mini-length give is a real 1960’s shape and whilst wearing such a light colour in the colder months will feel decadent, it at least has sleeves to provide some warmth.

It is available to buy for £70 from the Monsoon website.

Vintage inspired faux-pearl accessories from Accessorize

Pearls_2The best finds for pearls are most often in the bottomless piles of vintage jewellery in charity shops or vintage shops, if you can manage to find any intact. Thankfully, for those who aren’t having any luck there’s been a bit of surge in vintage-styled pearl jewellery on the high street of late.

Accessorize have a number of faux-pearl accessories at great prices. I especially love their teardrop pearl earrings (bottom left), set on a great shade of antique gold. A classic jewel that will never go out of fashion.

Book Review: The Big Book of Fashion Illustration

51biwcgbvtl_aa240__2 Many a time I have pored over beautiful fashion shots in magazines, and there is little more iconic than the vintage fashion shoots of Twiggy, Brigitte Bardot and their contemporaries. The same goes for the fashion drawings that graced magazines throughout the sixties, seen often in their great dress pattern features.

In The Big Book of Fashion Illustration, Martin Dawber’s vast collection showcases the very best of fashion illustrations, from retro to this minute. And they’re rather a feast for the eyes.
