Barbie Loves Mac make-up

Barbie_stuff

We featured air hostess Sindy a few weeks ago, and now it is the turn of her American counterpart Barbie, who has teamed up with Mac cosmetics to develop her own make-up range Barbie Loves Mac.

A capsule collection of bright glosses, powders all embossed with Barbie’s own stylised head on the packaging. If you want to look like a living doll it could be just the range for you.

You can even get tips on the website on how you can re-create the real doll look. A Barbie pink lipstick will set you back around £11, and £8 for a nail varnish. If you are a Barbie fan it is worth it for the packaging.

Dune Gingham silk clutch bag

Ginghambag
We’ve featured some 70s inspired bags recently, but now for one with more of a lady-like feel. This cute Gingham silk clutch bag from Dune would go with any of the 50s-inspired tulip dresses in the shops at the moment.

It comes in either the blue and white featured, or equally fetching black and white. It has a fabric body with metallic frame and clasp. It’s £55 which seems quite expensive, but that’s probably because it is silk.

The gingham pattern is usually more familiar on shirts or items of clothing, but on a bag it gives the traditional clutch style a new retro twist.

Biba vintage style cocktail ring

Bibaring
We haven’t featured any jewellery for a while, but I love this vintage style cocktail ring from the new Biba range. It has great 70s style and is good statement piece.

It might look like something Abigail would have worn at her party, but the glossy oval gem and gold casing also has a timeless feel and would go brillliantly with some of the 70s style dresses available at the moment.

It comes in three different colours of stone, brown, green, and the purple one featured. So you just need to decide which you like best. They are available from Matches for £90.

YMC Premium Plimsole shoe

Ymc_beige
I’m a big fan of no-nonsense footwear – and these YMC Premium Plimsoles are very much a throwback to traditional gym shoes – and all the better for it.

Predominantly in cream with black detailing, they have a canvas upper with a contrasting rubber midsole and cream laces.

Ideal spring/summer footwear and available now, priced at £55.

Kerry Taylor vintage fashion auction

Kerry_taylor
You can search eBay for vintage fashion, you can wander the streets to find vintage shops or you can find a whole load of it up for auction at the Kerry Taylor vintage fashion auction on Tuesday 20th March 2007.

Kerry Taylor was a Sotheby’s auctioneer who has set up as a specialist fashion dealer, running regular vintage fashion auctions in the Sotheby’s auction rooms. You can pick up several designer pieces (mens and womens) at prices below retail.

But if you want the best deals, check out the bulk sales – like this cocktail and dinner wear lot from the 1960s. Approximately 63 pieces in the set (including the dresses pictured here) for an estimate of between £150 and £250. Good value in anyone’s book.
