Gina Girl limited edition 60s-style dolls

Ginagirls

We’re long overdue a feature on Blythe Dolls, but until we do one, let’s take a look at some modern-day dolls influenced by Blythes – the Gina Girl dolls.

They were designed by photographer Gina Garan of This is Blythe fame, in collaboration with Australian artist Christina Gordon and with a nod to Blythe and 60s big-eye artist Lee and a nod to the 60s era for the outfits too.

Classic CBGB t-shirt

Cbgb
With the BBC getting big on the sounds of New York right now, it seems like a good time to feature something from one of its institutions – the CBGB t-shirt.

Probably the first name you’ll think of when it comes to music in the city, it opened its doors in 1973, closing last year, but probably peaking in influence during the mid 70s, where it became the home for rising US punk/alternative acts including The Ramones, Television, Blondie and the Talking Heads.

The t-shirt is something of a timeless classic. The one featured here is imported from the US and officially licensed. It’s available in a range of sizes and colours, along with two slightly differing designs.

You can pick it up from Balcony Shirts from £19.

Topshop Liberty printed dress

Libertydress
There are loads of dresses in the shops at the moment, many of them with heavily patterned 70s designs. This Liberty printed dress from Topshop has the same theme, but with a little bit more subtlety.

I think we will all be buying at least on flowered dress this season, but the colour scheme on this one may appeal if you want to stay away from some the primary brights seen on other versions.

It has a spring inspired flower pattern, with bell sleeves and is made in 100% cotton, so it will see you all the way through to the summer. You can get one for £75.

Next white moleskin coat

Nextwhitecoat
A white coat isn’t the most practical thing, but fashion isn’t always about practicality which is why we are featuring this white moleskin coat from Next. It looks good and that is enough for us.

From their Dolce Vita range it takes a bit of Italian and jet set style, and gives you a great coat for Spring. The monochrome look is very in this season, so if you team it with a back polo neck, and sunglasses as featured in the picture you will complete the look.

With contrasting black buttons and swing hem it combines the key trends seen on many coats on the high street. It can be yours for £75. If you want to go for the full look you can also buy the polo neck for £13 and the sunglasses for £22.
