Chloe full printed skirt

Chloeskirt
Sometimes it is nice to feature something that is more wish list than everyday purchase, and I really like this full printed skirt by Chloe from Browns. It has a funky retro print which meant that I had to feature it.

At £695 it is not an impulse purchase, and may be out the price range of most of us, but it is good to see what some of the designer ranges are doing, as you can then source a cheaper version from the high street.

This skirt has swirling print in orange and brown on a cream background. Orange and brown seems to be a popular colour choice for many of the spring collections, and is very 70s. Maybe I’ve been watching too many episodes of Life on Mars, but it is starting to look good to me.

The hemline on this skirt is just above the knee, again more of a 70s cut, and has pockets on either side of the hips. It is 100% silk which may go some way to explaining the price, if the designer name is not enough to tempt you.

Katy Hackney vintage formica jewellery

Katyhackney
Think of trinkets and you’ll probably think of gold, silver, diamonds and many more precious stones. But probably not formica.

Yet formica is the big selling point of Katy Hackney. She offers up a range of items, including rings, badges, bracelets, necklaces and brooches. Indeed, pictured to the right is an example of one of the brooches, made from vintage formica, along with plywood and silver – creating a design that’s retro in make-up and indeed retro in looks.

For an up-to-date list of stock and pricing, contact Katy via her website.

French Connection Sinatra dress

Sinatradress
It’s great to see all the new season clothes hitting the shops, and this Sinatra dress from French Connection is a nice find, and a pleasant move away from the usual FCUK range.

The dress is I presume named after Nancy Sinatra, as it looks like something she may have worn in her 60s heyday, along with those walking boots. But it would also look great in spring 2007 if you fancy emulating some of her style.

The sateen baby doll dress comes in magenta, and has half length sleeves, with puff detail at the elbow. You can buy one for £70.

Reader request: 1960 Italian trainers

This is a request for help from one of our regular readers – and hopefully you can help out, as we’re stumped. The request is below, if you can help out, please leave your comment below this post:

I met an Italian today who had the coolest sneakers on. They were serafini 1960. I think they were serafini or something similar (serafino serefini ???) and they are reproductions of 1960 shoe design. He said they were sold only in Italy? They were VERY cool but I can’t find them on the web.

They were brown with the Italian flag colors forming a stripe on the side and on the tongue of the shoe was serafino 1960 with olympic rings in the Italian colors.

Daniela.
