Arne Jacobsen Egg Chair gets Golden Era finish
It's been on the market 52 years, so we can't begrudge the Arne Jacobsen Egg Chair a new finish, specifically a Golden Era finish.
Named after the 'Golden' age of design (the 1950s), this 1958 design classic is now upholstered in sand-coloured Steelcut Trio, a cross-stitched woven fabric from Kvadrat, matched with a velvey seat pad and a grey, powder-coat aluminium base. Nice, but for me, not a patch on the 50th anniversary Egg Chair.
Saying that, it is a lot cheaper than that particular edition. The Aram Store is selling this for £3,545, which is £600 less than even the standard Fritz Hansen-made Egg Chair.
