If you want 1960s or 70s style, then the Oval Shade by Kafti Design has it – in fact I'm convinced someone in my family had something just like this when I was very young.
The shade is supplied flat packed, so you need to put it together to create this wonderfully retro shape. I've chosen the orange version to show you here as it is probably the most Seventies looking, but it is available in a variety of colours. I also like the white version, which looks more space-age Sixties – and reminds me of Polo mints too. There are also pink, aubergine and lime versions available, which will have a more limited appeal but could work depending on your decor. The shades cost £60 each.
