1960s stamp designs look just as striking as these larger-scale prints by Marie Varley, as they would adorning an envelope.

The prints come from a collection of work called Cavalier by the Edinburgh-based artist which used a stamp album from the 1960s as its basis. Not exact reproductions of the stamps, they have been manipulated to highlight different elements of their design.

The Red Door Gallery has four different silkscreen prints of the artwork available for sale: two coming from the former West Germany (one of which you can see above), one from the United States and the domino design shown below from the Netherlands. The prints are considerably larger than the originals at around 42cm high.

The prints are priced between £40 and £46 each.
