Just when you thought Smeg was about as retro as the kitchen got, a small American manufacturer comes along with a retro range for your entire kitchen. Elmira specialises in antique-style kitchen appliances, but their most eye-catching products is definitely the Northstar range.
The Northstar line of fridges, stoves and range hoods is inspired by 1950s American cars, right down to the vintage car colours. They ooze retro style on the outside, but are very much state-of-the-art inside. And for all this craftsmanship you’ll pay a premium. Fridges and cookers start at $4,000 (£2,135), with a matching cooker hood costing $1,100 (£587).
We’ve not seen them available in the UK, but if you contact the company, I’m sure they’ll confirm any suppliers.
