Will 2010 be remembered as the year of nostalgia? Cherry Cake and Ginger Beer is certainly going to appeal to those who love Famous Five style picnics without a packet of wotsits in sight.  Written by Jane Brocket, the book is packed full of recipes that featured in children's stories from way back with descriptions of the specific book alongside the recipes.

So if, as a child, you wondered what parkin was, or what Swallows and Amazons' bunloaf tasted like, this book gives you the opportunity to find out for yourself. The book doesn't have any photography which may be a help or a hindrance depending on your viewpoint, but at least it gives it an authentic vintage feel.

Priced at £12.99 you can buy the book on Amazon.
