An amazing house has just hit the market. In fact, this Marcel Breuer-designed Sea Lane House in East Preston, West Sussex has come onto the market for the first time since the 1940s.

A unique modernist property, this is the only house in Britain to have been wholly designed by the great Bauhaus-trained architect and designer Marcel Breuer. For that reason, this 1936 build is grade II-listed. Great original condition too, faithful to the original design, although a bit of modernising will be required here and there.

The house itself has six bedrooms, with a bedroom wing raised on concrete columns. There’s also a first floor living room with an open fireplace, a dining room with access to a sun terrace and garden, and a ground floor kitchen with a larder and utility room. If you want more living space, the architect intended one of the bedrooms being used as a second reception room or study. So you can always change the layout, whilst staying faithful to the original.

Outside, there are gardens (including a vegetable garden), two garages plus driveways for further parking. It's also located on a corner plot straddling the ‘prestigious’ Kingston Gorse and West Kingston Estates. If you fancy it, the agent has it up for £795,000.
