Keiichi Tanaami’s Wondergirl

R4srkomlwggirl110618It is difficult to know how to describe Keiichi Tanaami’s Wondergirl. I suppose it is an ornament of sorts, but this is no twee porcelain figurine. It is part of his Rolling 60’s collection and there were only 200 of the large Wondergirl figures produced.

Japanese artist Tanaami came into prominence in the sixties for his psychedelic designs which appeared in publications such as Studio Voice and Oz and Wondergirl is typical of his style.

Its certainly an interesting piece and if you think you’ve got somewhere suitable to display it in your home (I haven’t in mine!), it is available to buy now through the Paul Smith website for £65.

Jamie Reid: Never Trust A Punk print

Punk

Jamie Reid is an iconic British artist, most readily associated with the ‘ransom’ style artwork that defined the punk movement, especially with the Sex Pistols album and single artwork. Iconic but still affordable to buy – and one example is this Never Trust A Punk print.

A new twist on a classic Reid work (and the ‘never trust a hippy’ slogan), this pop edition is available in a quantity of 750, each one a 30.5cm x 23.5cm inkjet print on Satin Hahnemuele photo rag paper, stamped and numbered for authenticity.

Yours for £30. If you want more, there are five Reid prints available on the site.

Penguin reissues George Orwell’s 1984 and Animal Farm with Shepard Fairey sleeves

Orwell1

There’s absolutely no excuse for failing to own George Orwell’s 1984 and Animal Farm. But if you need further encouragement, maybe these Shepard Fairey-designed sleeves will provide it.

We have featured the striking Shepard Fairey (aka Obey) artwork over at Switched On Set – striking retro-styled art that certainly fits Orwell’s politically-inspired classic. Penguin hopes the new covers will give the books a new lease of life – and get them into the hands of today’s book-shy youth.

Both are available from July 3rd, no prices as yet. The cover of Animal Farm can be seen over the page.
