Next Retro Canister Set

Canisters
Next currently has a whole collection of kitchenware in bright green, which is a little garish in such large quantities, but used in moderation here on this Canister Set it works rather well.

Each canister has a slightly different variation on the green flower pattern, so that you don’t mix up your tea, coffee and sugar (although the canisters are named too). The canisters are all 14cm high and sold as a set of three for £24.

London Transport Wartime Signs Products

Drinkingwateronly

To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the start of the Blitz in England, London Transport museum currently has an exhibition called “Under Attack” which looks at the role played by public transport. To accompany the exhibition , the museum’s shop has a range of related products based on the London Transport wartime signs and posters.

These signs and posters focused on advising staff and passengers on emergency rules and regulations with warnings such as “Drinking Water Only. Not to be Used for Washing” and “Sheltering on this Stairway is Prohibited”, which are reproduced here on mugs, t-shirts and travelcard holders. Other warnings relating to gas and toilet paper are also printed onto baby clothes, which you may or may not find amusing, depending on your sense of humour.

Prices start at £4.95 for the travelcard holders and go up to £14.99 for t-shirts. View the whole range on the London Transport Museum Shop website.

Vintage Vamp Cushions

132817_Vintage_Vamps_2
These Vintage Vamp Cushions are inspired by glamorous ladies from the 1950s and are part of a range of textiles by Samantha Stas, who lists her influences as “the post-war 'make do and mend' philosophy, old children's book illustrations and all things nostalgic”.

The cushions are made from vintage fabric remnants, felt and reclaimed buttons, so each one is unique. You can, however, specific whether you would like your vamp to be a blonde, brunette, red-head or black-haired vamp.

The square cushions measure 16cm and cost £37 from Not on the High Street.

What may at first look like a Bridget Riley dots style print is actually a piece called Mona Lisa Revamp by Graphic Nothing.
