Bryonie Porter specialises in revitalising pieces of furniture by covering them with wallpaper. One example of her work is the “Faces” cupboard.

The cupboard has been covered in the striking Cole & Sons wallpaper, with the “faces” being taken from the famous Themes and Variations series by Fornasetti. You can buy the cupboard online via My Deco, priced £750.

Elvis Lampshade

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

The Old Lamp Shed creates handmade lamp shades covered in a range of pretty fabric, most of which could be described as shabby chic, but this Elvis Lampshade falls squarely into the kitsch category.

The material features images of Elvis in various poses in green, blue and beige. The shade measures 25cm diameter and 22cm high.

It probably won’t be to everyone’s taste, but for fans of The King, it can be bought from The Old Lamp Shed via Not on the High Street for £30.

211 Trunk Dressing Table

F74ad6f54d8074b45bc186bf8dec2613202e49f7

The 211 Trunk is based on the stylish old fashioned trunks used when travelling was a glamorous event.

It is made from rosewood veneer casing covered with mock croc in either black or cream. Its lid opens up to reveal a three part mirror and a dressing table, whilst in the cupboard, there is a small chair for you to sit at.

If you have a dressing room to accommodate this piece of furniture, then you can probably afford the £2895 price tag. It is available to buy from the Conran Shop.

“Curl Tree on Hill” Plates

Sparham_curltree_dnrplt

Some time ago, we mentioned Nadia Sparham’s Cog Flower tableware, and now I’ve come across another of her delightful designs.

The “Curl Tree on Hill” Dinner Plates feature an illustration that is exactly what its title says, a swirly pattern tree on top of a mound. The style is somewhere between folk art and psychedelic, which is a good thing in my book. The plates measure 25.4cm and are square shape with rounded corners.

The plates cost £21 each and are available to buy from Dot Maison.

Indesit Moon Washing Machine

158-4794415SPA70UC503623X

Argos is hardly a hot bed of retro design, but it is a stockist of the Indesit Moon Washing Machine.

Apart from Smeg’s 50s style washing machine, there hasn’t been much in the way of interesting or retro design when it comes to this type of appliance. The Indesit Moon is intended to be an ultra modern piece with several unique state of the art features, but when it comes to its looks, it is pure 1960s space age style. The distinctive blue door is a special self-cleaning detergent dispenser, which is probably useful, but in all honesty, my interest in it is how good it looks.

Argos has the silver version (it is also made in white too) which costs £299.

Flower Power Table Cloth

Tc09_1

At this time of year, most people will be reaching for the holly patterned table cloth or something in festive red and green, so this Flower Power table cloth seems rather unseasonal, but it is something you would use beyond December.

The white rectangular cloth is decorated around its edges with cheerful daisies in red, blues, green, pink and yellow. There are three sizes available; 180cm x 310cm (£70), 150cm x 280cm (£60) and 140cm x 230cm (£55).
