1950s Wire Magazine Rack

50smagazinerack

Still in the 1950s and in a similar style to the Figural Furnishings (but less weird!), is this Wire Circular Magazine Rack.

It is made from black wire with contrasting yellow plastic “atomic” ball feet. It costs just £30 which is a good price for a stylish storage solution.

You can pick one up from H is for Home.

1950s Figural Furnishings

Figuralfurniture

Decoratum is selling this collection of three Figural Furnishings. Comprising of a recliner, table and lamp, each piece is shaped like a person.

I don’t know who designed or manufactured these pieces, but they are dated at around 1952 and from the UK. They make interesting talking points, but for me fall into the category of things I don’t think I could live with seeing every day, although the “Running Man” lamp would probably be the easiest to live with.

All three pieces are being sold together for slightly under £4,000. Visit Decoratum for further details.

1960s Dyrlund Bar

Dyrlundbar-product

Besides a kitsch ice bucket and cocktail book, for those truly serious about recreating a retro bar in their home, a 1960s Dyrlund Bar is a must.

The freestanding bar is from rosewood with contrasting red accents and has a beautiful curved shape. It has been designed to house all your bar equipment with the seven bottle holders being a particularly nice touch.

Fears and Kahn have one priced £1275, but lucky readers in the USA can purchase one from Lears for the comparatively bargain price of $1,250

Vintage Wallpaper Lampshades

Wallpaperlamp

Judging by their range of products that use vintage wallpaper, Drawflowers may have been inspired by the Wallpaper Projects book we featured earlier in the week. I particularly like the Vintage Wallpaper Lampshades.

Using wallpaper from the 1970s (not reproductions), most of the shades can be used for pendant lights or floor lights. Prices range from $85 to $287 presumably based on the size of the shade and the rarity of the wallpaper.

Visit Draw Flowers on Etsy to view the current range.

Retro Graphics Posters by ISO50

ISO50_1971

ISO50 posters make great alternatives for anyone who can’t afford original 1960s artwork.

ISO50 is one of the names that renaissance man Scott Hansen goes by, being the name for he uses for his design work, whilst he creates music under the name of Tycho. Whereas his music has a timeless quality to it, his design definitely has a retro look to it.

A selection of ISO50 designs are available as posters priced $17 (around £10) or as framed prints for $40 (around £25) from the ISO50 shop.

Tiki Drinks by Adam Rocke

Bobtiki

There are plenty of cocktail books on the market, but Tiki Drinks by Adam Rocke is worthy buying for the edition that is illustrated by one of our favourites, Shag.

The book features seventy cocktail recipes that are a mixture of Tiki classics and some more unusual concoctions. It also gives a comprehensive list of the equipment you need for your own well-stocked cocktail lounge.

The Shag illustrated edition seems hard to come by in UK but can be bought from The Shag Mart website or Amazon in the USA for $12.99 in hardback.
