Jamie Ward Recycled Table

Recycletable

Jamie Ward specialises in using found furniture in his designs, making use of things that other people have discarded (rather like a Womble!).

His current collection of furniture has all been created from things he found in the streets of Manchester including the “Recycled Table”. It is a low coffee table with a handle detail on the top and newspaper graphics covering the legs.

It costs £395 which isn’t a bad price for something unique and can be bought through the Folksy website. Further information on Jamie’s work can be found on this website http://www.jamiewardfurniture.tk

American Retro Silk Floral Tunic Dress

Arsilktunic

Contrary to its name, many of the clothes in the current collection by the brand American Retro are disappointingly modern looking. One exception is this Silk Floral Print Tunic.

It is mini in length but with long sleeves and a fold-down collar that make it a more modest design. The print is a bold purple flower, the colour of which is described as “prune” set against a 60s-style swirl in black and white.

It costs £220 and is available in UK sizes 6 to 12 from ASOS.

Les Cakes de Bertrand Bags and Purses

Cakesdebertrand

Les Cakes de Bertrand started out as a cake stall in a French marketplace, which soon evolved into a cake and confectionery shop. Not an unusual story so far, but then somehow the company has made the leap into accessories.

A strange business move, but one we’re glad they made judging by their delightful collection of bags and purses. The bags and purses (like the chocolate bars before them) are decorated with charming pictures taken from vintage postcards. They are made from vintage looking materials with flock, lace and damask patterns.

If you happen to be in Paris, you can visit Les Cakes de Bertrand shop, otherwise Collard Mason has a small selection of their wares available to buy online including wash bags, purses and clutches. Further information on the shop and the full accessories range can be found on Les Cakes de Bertrand website.

Boston Low Sideboard

Bostonlow

The Boston Low Sideboard is a versatile item of furniture that would fit with many décor styles depending on your choice of colour.

The white version picture here has a strong space-age look to it, whereas the orange or khaki options suggest 1970s design. It is also available in red, anthracite and lime. Each one has been given a high gloss finish which adds a bit of a contemporary spin on this otherwise retro piece.

It costs £350 from Dekko, where you can also buy matching TV unit, drawers and coffee table. Visit Dekko to view the whole range.

Anthony Savini “Vacancy” Wall Mural

15582448_00_bNew York filmmaker Anthony Savini has designed some striking photo-realistic wall murals, on the theme of the road less travelled.

Pictured here is the one entitled “Vacancy” which features a motel vacancy sign against a backdrop of a deserted road. The image conjures up ideas of road trips and classic Americana, and would look great used in a dining room furnished in the 1950s diner style.

Printed on heavy duty paper, the mural is supplied in 8 easy-to-hang panels and comes with full instructions and paste for hanging. It costs $200 (approximately £110) from Urban Outfitters.

Wallace Sacks Retro Rugs

Ha0602

Wall-to-wall carpeting is apparently making a comeback but most of us probably aren’t willing to give up our wood flooring just yet so rugs are the ideal compromise. Wallace Sacks is currently selling a range of retro rugs that are cheap enough to buy on impulse to give your floor a quick makeover.

Costing just £65, there is a choice of two designs, the curved stripes of the “Hairpin” or the geometric squares of the “Club”. The Hairpin design is available in red with black stripes or black with white and grey stripes, whilst the Club comes in shades of grey, sand, red and coffee.

Visit the Wallace Sacks website to view the whole collection.
