Extremely limited edition prints of original Paris 1968 street posters

France

Great street design and a piece of social and political history too – these extremely limited edition prints of original Paris 1968 street posters are well worth a look.

They are available to coincide with the Hayward Gallery’s May 68: Street Posters from the Paris Rebellion exhibition, which celebrates the artwork that inspired the social uprising in May 1968.

The Hayward Gallery is selling a limited edition book containing hand screen printed reproductions of 40 original May 68 posters, but the Keep Calm Gallery has a limited number of printer’s proofs of each design, available individually as hand-pulled screen prints on recycled paper. Less than 10 of each one and each selling for around £30 per print. Get them while you can.

Store your files on a Mickey Mouse-shaped USB drive

Mickey_drive

We featured the Mickey Mouse MP3 player a short while back – and now we have the Mickey Mouse-shaped USB drive.

Claimed to be part fashion item and part useful gadget, the A-Data Theme Series T703 Disney Flash Drive (it’s official name) is available as a 2GB or 4GB drive with a choice of colour for each. The drive is actually one of the ears of the classic Mickey head, with the rest just presentation – including the chain which allows you to wear it round your neck – though why you would want to do that is beyond me.

Cheap though, with prices from $33 (around £16.50).

Richard Rogers limited edition Pompidou Centre prints

Rogers_pompidou

The Design Museum is currently hosting the Richard Rogers + Architects: From The House To The City exhibition, focusing on the work of the architect and his practice. And where there’s an exhibition, there is usually merchandise.

And this one is no exception. You can pick up a poster featuring one of his more contemporary works  or you can pick up one of the limited edition Pompidou Centre prints. The screenprints feature never before seen provisional sketches of the iconic 1970s construction by Richard Rogers and Renzo Piano.

The front view (above) is A1-sized and limited to just 50, each numbered and signed by Richard Rogers. A collector’s piece of the future and something of a steal at £95.

Verner Panton 1960s Spiral pendant light

Verpan_spiral

If you have a high ceiling or you are on the look out for a focal point in a large room, the Verner Panton Spiral pendant light could fit the bill.

Originally launched in 1969 and now back on the market, the Spiral is so called because of the silver ‘cellidor’ spirals that descend from the three-ring metal frame. And if silver isn’t your thing, there’s also a version with a gold finish.

The bulb hides somewhere in the centre and the whole thing retails for £499.
