ILVA’s Malaga coffee table – Merrow Associates look on the cheap

Malaga

Thumbing through the latest edition of Elle Decoration, I noticed a feature on ‘undiscovered’ British design labels to watch, heading up by Merrow Associates. Shame the article came about six years after everyone bought up the stock on the cheap, leaving new buyers facing four-figure prices for most of the pieces.

Saying that, the knock-on effect of its popularity is a number of high street copies, including the ILVA Malaga coffee table. It’s the classic dark wood and chrome combination, but with the dark wood being walnut rather than rosewood.

The chrome isn’t as chunky as classic Merrow either, but if you’re after the look, this 130cm-wide coffee table is good value for £199.

Last week we featured a 60s-styled dress from Tara Jarmon. And if you liked that, there’s a good chance you’ll love these 60s-inspired coats from the same designer.

The ‘orange’ coat is three-quarter sleeved, approximately 35 inches in length, with a chunky belt and made with a touch of lycra for fit and comfort. The ‘yellow’ coat has three yellow and gold buttons as well as a collar button, measuring around 33 inches from the nape of the neck to the hem.

Prices are £290 for the orange, £265 for the yellow.

V&A’s Switch off that light! t-shirt

Switch
The V&A continues to re-produce some of its more obscure vintage artwork as limited edition clothing, the latest being this Switch off that light! t-shirt.

Originally from an early to mid 20th century public information poster, it’s a message that still carries some weight in these eco-friendly days (not to mention with energy bills sky high).

A run of just 150, each printed onto a slim-fitting 100 per cent cotton shirt in a choice of size, you can pick one up for £25.

Richard Schultz 1966 outdoor furniture for B&B Italia

Bb_1966

When a furniture collection is still on sale over 40 years after its debut, it has got to be worth a look. And that is certainly the case with the 1966 range from B&B Italia.

Named after the year of its design, the 1966 collection is the work of Richard Schultz – a range of outdoor furniture that includes everything from chairs and tables through to sofas, chaise longues and armchairs. All in white and all made from weather-resistant powder-coated aluminium and porcelain steel.

Obviously this isn’t at the cheap end of the market, with example prices of £1,046 for a square table and £730 for an armchair.
